American automakers have had decades to build the best, most efficient, highest quality cars in the world. You don't wait until gas prices are high before you make fuel-efficient cars. You anticipate the demand because providing the highest fuel-efficiency is a desirable trait in any vehicle no matter what gas prices are doing. You don't wait until foreign manufacturers dominate the market because their cars are consistently far better in quality. You build quality in your cars because that is a desirable trait that you want the buyers of your cars to have. Because they have failed produce the superior product, they should suffer the consequences.

I say let them fail and take their greed, profit-first, quality-last ideology and get the hell out of here. Best products always prevail.

Instead of giving them money that they obviously don't know what to do with, invest that money in research to cure cancer, AIDS, or any other deadly disease.

Cool Bail-Out? Ok If

If the government bails the big three out, then they need to set real tight standards on them, like.

1) Everyone from the top all the way down take a big pay cut, but thier benifits stay the same, but equal for all from the top all the way down.

2) The UNION is to keep thier BIG traps shut and stay out of the factory, until the debt is paid back in full to the government. And if they (the Union) attempt to interfere with any part of the companies or employee problems, the companies and all employees agree to have them removed and abolished. Or, all will loose thier jobs and the company gets to start with new employee's.

3)
They must pay back the debt in a very specific set time with no extention allowed.

4) No bonus's are to be given to anyone, especially top brass.

5) The big three must and will stop all SUV production and move to build fuel efficient cars.

6) All parts and vehicles are to be manufactured only here in the US, by US owned companies, NO EXCEPTIONS. Any parts shipped in from outside of our borders the Tariff Tax will ten time as much and the Auto Manufacture eats the bill, not the auto buyer.

7)
And the government must approve any and all transaction the company wants to make.

8) All top brass must surrender all company owned transportation and use only thier privately owned vehicles. And thier P.O.V's must be made by thier plants. Company own transportation will be sold off and the money returned to the company or placed into the employee's retirement funds.
