Actually, the California Legislature voted TWICE to legalize same-sex marriage. I admire them for it. It was only because of Schwarzenegger's vetos that they weren't able to achieve their goal.

No one's even arguing for that, so your point is moot (not to mention, tired and hackneyed).

I'm just asking why it's ok to legislate the number of persons in a marriage, but not the sex of the persons in a marriage.

I'm so sick of the issue until I no longer care WHAT they decide, but it does seem to me that the people's majority vote is often times a moot point. I have no idea how to make sense of it all.

Your question can only be considered rhetorical, since no one is seriously pushing for polygamy.

I can't come up with answer for you. Can you answer your own question?

Marriage was called a "basic civil right" by the California Supreme Court. That's one of the primary reasons this is an issue.

Another civil right is the freedom to choose your religion. If the voters decided that Judaism (or any other religion) was now illegal in California, would that be right? And should that group just sit back and allow their religion to be taken from them?
