NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson is going back to the small screen after his foray into Republican presidential politics over the last year.

Thompson, best known on TV for his role as a gruff district attorney on NBC's "Law & Order," dropped out of the crowded GOP primaries in January after his much-anticipated presidential campaign failed to gain strong support among conservatives.

When did he leave? His campaign was a work of pure fiction.

the only thing more wooden than his performance on the campaign trail is his performance on any tv or movie he ever made.

the votes he did get were from the brain dead who assumed that they were voting for his DA role.

If I well remember, he didn't run for elections and returned to acting several years ago. Then he got into politics this year, but he is still acting. I forgot the name of the show (Law And Order?).
