I am not sure were to post this so I picked this thread.

I was rear ended at a traffic light. I was at a standstill when a larger truck drove right into the back of the car. The light turned green and we both drove into the first available space. She didn't want my insurance information. She wrote down her name, address and cellphone and intended to leave. I told her no, that I had to call the police. When the police came I found out she was uninsured and driving on a suspended license. The car was not hers either. I also found out that the information she gave me was all made up except her name.
She was arrested.
My car received damages and needs repairs. I also received some back and neck pains but nothing severely.
I was advice to call a accident lawyer so I did.
My question is. Have any of you guys ever been in a similar situation and what was the outcome of that. If you called a lawyer, was it worth it?

What exactly are you expecting a lawyer to do?

I have been in several accidents where the other driver was clearly "at fault". The only time I needed to engage a lawyer was when the insurance company of other driver refused to communicate with me! I'm sure they paid a lot more than they would have if they had treated me fairly!

I'm not sure whether or not you should call a lawyer, but I do hope you have "Uninsured/Underinsured" protection on your own insurance.

Why call a lawyer? What, are you expecting to milk thousands out of her?

Exactly. You need to just submit this through your insurance and let them deal with it. You'll probably be out your deductible, which the ins. will try to recover for you, but honestly, someone who's driving with no license, ins and it's not even their car... good luck trying to recover anything from someone who most likely is broke.

I mean, when you ask if you should get a lawyer... what exactly are you thinking a lawyer will get for you?

I don't appreciate it when people sue for everything. I've been in accidents that have been my fault & let me tell you, if someone would've sued me I would've been screwed. That's why they're called ACCIDENTS! And I'm doubting that you got hurt in anyway either, it is EXTREMELY rare for someone to have any sort of injury from a rear end job.

I suggest trying to have an exploratory consultation with an accident lawyer and let him suggest what he can do for you. Do not assume anything or follow guesses.

Default Do it

My daughter is 25 and was permanently crippled in a car accident. She was a rear seat passenger and was rear ended when they were at a dead stop. The doctors were not doing a whole lot until we got a lawyer. Now they stumble over themselves to help her.

She lost her job as a result of the accident. The lawyer was able to get the insurance companies to speed up her disability payments. The result of the lawsuit should be enough to retrain her for another career.
