Commentary: War is stealing Congo's young - CNN.com

War is stealing Congo's young.

Also, Due to the Darfur Conflict, a region has been in a state of humanitarian emergency since 2003.

A humanitarian emergency...how tragic. My heart literally aches for those poor people and children who are suffering there.

I want to get involved in this but I don't know what I can do. I wanted to donate money but I do not think it is the right thing considering ANYONE can take money and buy what they want. I feel donating blankets, food, toys for those children would be a good thing but where do I go for that? If anyone can tell me, please do. I will be most grateful.

In addition to that, if anyone can point out to me what the USA is doing about Darfur, please let me know. I hope to the sake of humanity that the United States is actively involved in this.

And also, for everyone who thinks abortion should be banned, why not take care of these children first before forcing women to bring more into this world? I am sorry but it angers me when people say that a life is so important and then don't care when these things happen.

I send my blessings to people who are going through this right now.

It's not possible to worry about more than 1 thing at a time?

Yes, it is possible. But you all put so much focus on these two topics. Face it. Gay marriage is not as much as a threat as Darfur.

Abortion is not a humanitarian emergency!

I think this is the time for the USA to do something right and step up and help people who are begging for our help.

Yes, Darfur breaks my heart so much. I wish I could do more about it. I wish the USA could stand up and take a stand on how wrong this all is.

Perhaps volunteering for the Red Cross? I'm sure they're over there. I don't know, I guess I'd have to research it more.

Seems 24 was showing too close to the truth last night. The horrors they face simply should not happen. We have no special interests to be served so I doubt the US will assist. it wasnt humanitarian as to why we went to Iraq.

there will always be war and hunger in the world. there is little that we americans can do. when we massively donated to the typhoon ppl in indonesia, we saw that the donations got eaten up by their local governments. it's insulting that you would say that gays deserve to have less rights in the "most freedom loving country in the world". would you also say the same for blacks, jews, mexican americans or any other minority? we are also important and contribute daily and greatly to american society.
