Gift certificates for Planned Parenthood (http://www.wishtv.com/dpp/news/local/region_1/Gift_certificates_for_Planned_Parenthood - broken link)

What makes this idea an example of bad taste is what went on during the time of the birth of Christ. King Herod ordered the slaughter of babies across the country. So, to celebrate the birth of Christ, Planned Parenthood (what a name for an organization that prevents the birth of babies) offers a gift certificate that can be used towards having an abortion. They really should change their name to Planned Non-parenthood.

By the way, wasn't one of the founders of Planned Parenthood an admitted racist who wanted to use abortion to control the black population?

I'd rather see someone using a gift certificate to afford the procedure rather than sitting at home and coat-hangering it.

abortion debate=dead horse

To quote the article:

"The certificates come in $25 increments. They can be used for everything from birth control to $58 examinations that include breast exams and pap tests. Men who receive healthcare at Planned Parenthood can use them too.
"They can be seen for sexually transmitted disease screenings, HIV tests and general prostate exams and those kinds of things," said Struben-Hall.
Some Hoosiers 24-Hour News 8 talked to asked if the gift certificates could be used towards abortions. The answer is yes. But, Planned Parenthood said that's not the purpose of the gift certificates."

I'm sorry... tell me again, how is providing health care to somebody a bad idea? Planned Parenthood is a clinic, and they do MUCH more than performing abortions. With the economic and health care crises in this country, this would actually be a very thoughtful and useful gift. As for your personal commentary on the story, aren't you being a tad dramatic?

And I'd rather see someone using a Walmart gift card for condoms.

Either way is cool... you don't want to get them at PP, then go to WalMart! Why do you care what other people do with their money - and bodies?

The gift certificate is pretty crass if you asked me.

Christmas is a holiday to celebrate the birth of a special child and they want to do that by offering an abortion to prevent the birth of a child. Next Muslim holiday, buy your muslim friends a gift certificate for a circumcision.
