This is not to say that Americans are all armed to the teeth with machine guns and heavy artillary. Not so. I don't own a gun, and I never have. My husband on the other hand was given his first shotgun at the age of 8. He didn't murder or maim anyone. In fact, he hasn't owned a gun for at least 20 years. The vast majority of Americans are like my dh and myself -- either they don't own guns or if they do, they are responsible about it.

Now, lets talk about the shivs all of Londons youth are carrying and cutting each other with....
You mean chavs?

I was amazed at how many times (two to three dozen!) those two a**holes had been arrested. And the living one is free today(assuming he hasn't been arrested again).

What's up with that? Do the Brits have a soft spot in their hearts for repeat predators?

LOL They love to lecture about whats proper. They love to act as though we are still a colony. They love to fudge numbers like their crime rate. Man killed by chain saw decapitated and they classify it as accidental self inflicted. I want to know how anyone can decapitate themselves with a damn chainsaw.
The fact remains they do have an aversion to orthodondists. I have been there no less than a dozen times and yes I have friends there. They joke about americans and their guns and I joke about the book of british smiles.
Lighten up and get over it.

do you not trust the law abiding citizen? I trust the law abiding citizens more than I shall ever trust anyone of the jackbooted thugs of the federal law enforcement agencies like the FBI, BATF and DEA.

well, maybe they should start paying out the millions or billions of dollars those firearms would not be worth.

Did you read about that kid in Arizona who killed his father & a family friend. He used a bolt action .22 rifle. this boy was 8 years old!
He has been charged with two counts of premeditated murder.
Only in America eh.
In the U.S. assault weapons were banned from sale ny law in 1004 but, the law expired in 2004 after ten years and wasn't renewed at that time. Since then a couple of attempts have been in congress by democratic senators to renew the law but, didn't pass. President-elect Obama has pledged to re-instate the law on a permanent basis. The reasons it causes so much fuss with some, is that they view it as the beginning stages of an eventual complete ban on all guns.

The boy, his father and a friend of his father that shared the residence with them, live in a rural part of Arizona. The boy's father taught the child how to use the weapon to hunt some kind small animals (I don't remember exactly what it was but, something like a prarrie dog). He not only taught the child but, apparently allowed the child to have access to the rifle when ever he wanted it. The boy said he killed his father and the friend because spanked him too much.....he said something like that he was counting how many times they spanked him and when it reached 1,000 he planned to shoot them. He has been charged with the murders but, because of the boys age they're obviously going to handle prosecution differently than normal.....for example, the boy was released from the detention center for a day or two so he could spend the Thankgiving Holiday with his mother.

There's nothing to lighten up about. Usually when people resort to the dental remarks it's because they have limited knowledge of the UK and can only quote remarks and myths they have collected from the internet or the mens bathroom.
