I have.

I owned a home in Scotland for a few years. I bought and traded firearms while I was there too.

I have lived in Italy. I think that I still have my 'Port De' Arms' Too.

Guns are dangerous weapons and should ONLY be in the hands of people who are fully trained to use them and have the need to possess them. Having a time on a range is not good training, it is target practice. So many think that because they have been shown the basics of shooting that they should be allowed in public with a lethal weapon.....this is part of the gun cancer that is inbred in America.

Our Constitution allows it.

And, there is no "training" requirement to purchase a firearm in the United States.

The gentleman you responded to also thinks the 2nd Amendment just refers to a militia's right to bear arms. Hasn't really read it or heard of Heller yet.

I think this is the prime example of how people from Europe look at Americans so oddly when it comes to their pre-occupation with who one sleeps with. Sadly, some of the rednecks....umm, "conservatives" don't see the severe lack of sophistication in all of this.

To use the John Wayne character is ridiculous: a man who was nothing more than an actor; who has been gone for 30 years; who's movies are no longer watched, except by a few old WWII veterans in a nursing home somewhere. An old has been, long forgotten.

Defense of guns on this thread: about 90% (rough guesses)
Defense of Gays on this thread: about 10%
and THAT is the answer to the OP's question.

...shakes head...

John Wayne is useful only to serve as an example of a chickenhawk. He was a gutless wimp that all but begged for a deferrment in WWII to stay out of the war because he was the father of four children. The hypocritical SOB set the pace for the draft dodgers of the 60s who he condemned for their lack of patriotism even though they shared a history. He is closer to Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and Bush (three draft dodgers and a deserter) than he is to any sort of decent American.

You are correct. He was nothing but a ham actor and a consummate liar.
