Waited for the 1st kiss? Okay, I can understand a couple waiting to have sex until they marry if they chose to, but waiting on the kiss is just plain WEIRD!
Self-control is a virtue; one where I'm not particularly strong. Abstinence teaching as a preventative tool in regard to unmarried sex or out of marriage pregnancies is an abject failure. Coitus interruptus is self-control, too, and we all know how well that works.
It is wonderful to aim high but it is best to make investments where your money will produce dividends.
In many regards, yes. I don't see how that would apply to abstinence, though. Waiting or not waiting has more to do with social norms and personal preferences than anything else. I don't see how, by not waiting, I'd be morally superior or inferior to someone who does.
I don't see any direct link between waiting and obvious social goods, in the same way that, say, saving rather than spending money is good for future financial security. In that case, self-control is a virtue with obvious positive effects. I just don't see the same thing with abstinence.
Their relationship is their business, but I could never support teaching abstinence-only in schools. That is no problem for me, but asking people in general to refrain from any sexual relations and refusing to educate them on safe sex is just setting them up for STDs and/or early pregnancy. A real disservice to people.
At first I posted "How romantic!", thinking they were 22-ish at the oldest. But 28 and 30 is a different story... maybe some baggage there. But maybe not. Hope not. I'm glad they found each other, hope it's truly as romantic as it sounds as if it could be, and hope they have a long happy life together..
