There is just so much wrong with that comment that I don't know where to start. I'll begin by simply saying, just because a person gets married, it doesn't mean they have to lose themselves. Besides, marriage is just a financial contract. A relationship's committment has no bearing on whether or not that piece of paper exists.

Marriage is not slavery...or it shouldn't be.

When was the last time a newspaper decided not to run a cartoon knocking Christianity out of fear of mass riots? When was the last time Christians rioted? Case closed.

I am not a religious person in a standard sense but I am however married to a fine lady who is. She is a Southern Baptist and I see no parralells in her to any of the preconcieved perceptions, by some, of people of her faith that I seem to be seeing so much of on forums such as this. While some Southern Baptists are more fire and brimstone than others it baffles me that any one could compare them to the Taliban. I've see no resemlance whatsoever and I spend a LOT of my time around their faith. There be a bit of tarring with a very wide brush going on. Saying that all Christians are foaming at the mouth, Bible thumping, fire breating zealots is exactly the same as saying all Muslims are wacko terrorists. Or in the same vein that all "conservitives" support repealing Roev Wade or that all "liberals" support gun control. The Southern Baptists I know are simply decent honest and hardworking people that believe in thier faith and use it as a philisophical guide in their lives. I see nothing wrong with that. By the way , good post above TXboomerang.

To be fair, Eric Rudolph is not a christian icon. As far as I know, he is not adored for his actions, nor do people try to emulate him. And no preacher that I am aware of is exhorting young men to take up Rudolphs cause in gods name.
