Advertisements

Ok this is an interesting one.

Why do Christians need to complain about this ad? Why? You find it offensive? As an Atheist I find it offensive with the constant reminders, insults, awful stares and ads that there is a God. If the Christians don't like it than tuff ****. Just ignore it, like I have done with so many ads about God.

Don't you see? Those religious complainers want to stifle the right to free speech unless it involves their right to plaster propaganda about god. Hypocritical indeed, & really? Who cares what's on the side of a bus. Actually, I would love to see that here in Milwaukee, I'd be a proud bus rider if that happened!

Just because it doesn't advocate God doesn't mean it's not a religious ad.

This really should be a non-issue. We are bombarded by advertising and marketing messages constantly. Whether it's a Starbuck's ad, a political ad, a message to pick up our trash or a message to go to church, or not, we perceive the message, evaluate it as to it's relevance, and either act on it or reject it. This is just another ad.

It's not "good" of the sponsors to be provocative with the larger first line, but - freedom of speech.

Seems like christians complain about an awful lot. That's why I usually don't like them. They seem to get so pissed that not everyone believes in what they do. We have to put up with god stuff everywhere and we usually just ignore that. We don't tell christians they should not believe in their religion. Yet they just can't seem to ever let anything go that conflicts with THEIR beliefs.

The answer to the OP question is, because the whole concept of Christianity is based on fear, and they object to things that scare them.

Funniest of all was the person who thought the ad violated obscenity laws.

I don't see why that should be an issue.

Here's the deal:

If someone put on the same bus "Don't believe in Allah....just be good".....it would cause a whirlwind of snickering and law suits.
