The lefties will blame "big oil" and the right will blame "enviromentalist wackos" while Hugo Chavez, Putin & Ahmadinejad will laugh all the way to the bank.

" Just take a hit, man. It all feel better after you get your cheap oil fix. That's right.... $1/ gallon....feel the rush"
Ha ha-THREE people I work just bought brand-new SUVs (excuse me, their parents just bought them brand-new SUVs). I asked one guy how much it costs to fill up the tank and he replied, "I don't know, my mom takes it to the gas station and fills it for me twice a week. I've never paid for my own gas". He's 26 years old!!!

Sadly, I'm not so sure SUVs will disappear anytime soon. There's the excuse here, "This is Michigan, I need a big ole' four wheel drive to get me through the winter". I don't see quite as many on the roads as I used to, but I still see them.

X2. Its forecasting a severe recession or even a depression. Not good. Its called deflation or stagflation and trust me you don't want ANY part of it.

Demand for gasoline and petro products is way down wordwide causing SUPPLY to increase dramatically even if production levels stay static. Supply and demand are intertwined. When demand was at its peak, it was the lack of supply caused by the high demand that was the problem. The occassional hiccup in supply therefore would create higher prices.

Default How does $1 gal gas sound?

Like an unrealistic fantasy, to be honest.

But, I can envision a scenario where it would be likely. If the economy slips through recession and into depression, we could experience ruinous deflation, with wages, prices, and investments dropping precipitously. It would be the most ruinous economic situation imaginable.

Gas could fall well below a dollar/gal and still be less affordable than it was at four dollars/gal.

let me be cynical & conspiracy like for once! Last time gas was at $1 a gallon was in Clinton's last year ( I remember this vivdly because it was only $0.99 at a local COASTAL gas station) and now that Bush & his oil cabal buddies are leaving office in a few weeks the price keeps dropping!
Now were is my tin foil hat?
