Many who use one of the largest National Parks, Grand Canyon NP, applaud this ruling.

Freedom is a wonderful thing

And:
Elected officials in many states believe that the public safety benefits of a sound , well regulated , CCW program are significant.
Well worth the admin costs.

Vermont , IIRC , takes a different approach for state residents : legal to own = legal to carry carry concealed. Simple and cheap.

This is great news and sure is making the hopolophobes go crazy! The usual crap from the anti's:" It's going to make our parks unsafe for everyone!"," There will be people shooting wildlife for no reason!", blah, blah! Let them rant as they have done about every state that has passed shall issue CCW. Every time they have been proven wrong.

On june 5, 2008, at approximately 2:16 a.m., united states park police officers on patrol in rock creek park heard a series of gun shots from within the park. The officers immediately headed towards the sound of the gunfire to investigate. While searching beach drive they observed two vehicles and three males in grove 10. The officers placed the subjects into custody and made the scene safe. One of the subjects admitted he was firing a rifle and indicated its location in the trunk of one of the vehicles. A rifle, magazines, and ammunition were recovered in the trunk of the vehicle. The subject was arrested and charged with several violations.

"Large" by lower-48 standards maybe. What is there to shoot in the Grand Canyon anyway? A sneaky sneak? Or maybe a leaping lizard? The only thing life-threatening in the Grand Canyon is the climb out.

The two-legged critters are usually the most dangerous animals anyways.
