Not even close. To use our last two as examples: we had a 2003 Malibu that, after endless problems from the start, died a total death with just 30,000 miles on it. Our 2005 Aztec did slightly better. It needed a new drive train at 32K miles but then was reasonably trouble free until 77K when we traded it. We take very good care of our vehicles so it wasn't a case of poor maintenance. Just poor quality.

Our current car is "foreign" if you want to call the southern U.S. foreign. This is our first car not from the Big 3 and we are very happy with it.

I'm aware of this recent comparison but as far as ergonomics and design go, I find Japanese fits me very well. I'm not one of those typically obese Americans, I need my car seat to keep me in place when I round those mountain curves at 40mph. Japanese cars fit the size of my body. When I see an American car that doesn't look like it was designed by committee (the Ford Mustang comes to mind), I'll give it a second look.

Oh, and Toyota dealerships have been hands down the worst! Terrible salespeople who won't even bother to let you test drive a vehicle, arrogant, unknowledgeable about their own vehicles, etc. These same characteristics carry over to every Lexus dealership I've had the misfortune to consider.

Yep whenever I drove trade-ins that were "for the masses" of the domestics, they were junk. Malibu, Impala, Cavalier, intrepid, stratus, tempo, Taurus, etc.-the mass produced cheap U.S. cars are simply junk. One thing is certain driving these w/over 50-60k miles on them, they were wore out, suspension making noise, trans clunking-you name it.

Now driving a honda accord or Toyota Camry with 80k miles on them, still felt "new"-until I appraised cars I never knew, now I know. It is true.

Now on the same token If you buy the highest model of these like SRT-8, SVT, SS, they will hold some value and drive reasonably well. These are the domestics I buy. I think that '07 Tundra of mine will be traded for a Cadillac Escalade EXT within a year, after I soften up the wife

Pay a little more for a "produced for the masses" Toyota or Honda.

Or buy a headache domestic "produced for the masses" and get the Longest Warranty you can buy-change the oil, and do exactly what the scheduled maintenance says. Those extended warranty companies will void it for missing one oil change! Or not doing scheduled maintenance at specific mileage. I know-I've seen customers cussing out the service Dept. when they were told theyre ext. warranties were null and voided!

You should've sat in a Mustang cobra! The seats have extra support on the sides, you can round those same mountains @75 Mph and not move an inch in your seat

No, cause they are POS built by over paid union leaches. I'll be damn if I'm plunking down my hard earned money knowing that $1,500.00 of it is going to their health care fund. I have my own health care to pay for. And I want a car that I know will be trouble free and last a long time. Love my Toyota, and I employed Americans that assembled it also.

"over paid union leaches"-your kidding right?

What you think they should be paid $8 an hour and pay an additional $40-50 a week for health care? While management who sits on their a** all day long checking their e-mail and making dumb a** decisions adversely affecting the company should be paid more? How about another million to the CEO?

Unions force Companies to Pay the ones who make the company the $$$$
Without the workers, their is no Company, the lazy a** white shirts aint gonna come out and sweat buddy.

Buy a Toyota and, yes, while it may have been manufactured by Americans, the profits still accrue in Tokyo.

Buy a GM, Ford, or Chrysler, and the profits accrue in Detroit.

If you don't believe in supporting the U.S. economy, then go ahead, but your Toyota and support the Japanese. They appreciate it, I'm sure.

If our corporate tax rates were a little lower, more of that work would be done here. There is no free lunch.
