Just when I thought I'd heard of everything: now they've come up with a handgun specifically for the handicapped, and are calling it a "medical device". No kidding...not a gun, but a medical device

FDA approves handgun for the handicapped - Discovery.com- msnbc.com

I have mixed feelings about this. I'm really not "against" guns, but this one has me wondering if we've encroached into a grey area...
I can understand how some handicapped people may occasionally need to defend themselves. However, I am concerned that some people in really bad health may decide to use this contraption to take their own lives..

Why are they calling it a "medical device"? What specific medical condition does it treat? How can it not be "a gun"? If it's not a gun, then does that mean we can order one online, and get it delivered through the postal system? How did the FDA get involved in approving a gun? What if someone wants to take this "medical device" aboard an airliner?...

Your thoughts...

Bud

My main concern is it could be mixed up for something else by someone who's got major health issues (poor vision, alzheimers, you name it). I see the point behind it, it'll possibly save someone who's very disabled, but, it doesn't look like a gun which could cause some problems. So I guess I'd be careful if I were in charge of caring for someone about getting it for them.
