It looks like working for the us auto makers is the way to go.They have very good pay, benefits & pensions. Its too the pres of the uaw is a corrupt crook & the cars are to damn expensive for the quality you get.If i was to buy a new car it would be toyota. My neighbor has over 300k on his toyota pick up truck & it still runs great.Ford,Gm & Chrysler dont even compare. The big 3 needs to lower car prices & quit paying many employees 95% of their salary just to play jigsaw puzzles all day. They are VERY lucky Obama will be president next month & give them BILLIONS more besides idiot bush giving 17 billion dollars today. The floodgates will open next yr & lots of businesses, states & cities will be asking for help as well.

Its not a high skilled job the auto workers do.They earn between $28.00-$52.00 hr not incl benefits.Thats total BS! The UAW union will not make any changes & thats why the us govt should not give them a dime.Bush did give them money & obama is next.Damn politicians.....

your not even in the ballpark of the correct wage

MANY people were earning very good wages but not anymore. I dont want to be homeless so i will do what i can & it sucks cause everything is expensive especially in ripoff california.
if the big 3 go bankrupt you will see an instant depression, seeing as you live in california and also have absolutely no clue about the correct wage uaw members make, let me let you in on something(from a detroiter). the big 3 has an enormous impact on the economy. on top of the line worker jobs, the big 3 will put engine builders, suppliers out of business. those suppliers also supply parts to the foreign auto makers that are in the south. those companies won't be able to get parts for there cars they will hault production, truck drivers will lose work because they will have no more auto freight to deliver. hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people will be out of work. stores will be forced to cut back or close because people won't buy products, tourism will see drastic losses, etc. etc. it just keeps on compounding. and don't think just blue collar union workers will be out of jobs so will engineers, upper management, designers etc. more houses will foreclose, you will see losses all over. do you truly understand how many jobs are related to the auto market. the current auto crisis has crippled michigan.
