You see neither is better then the other. They are just different.
Well of course you equate the size of a car and house as some big deal???

That's a right winger for you.

But I was referring to this.

You really got me buddy. Here is the U.S. economy figures vs. Sweden's over the past ten years (as you can see the U.S, economy destroys Sweden's as Unemployment is lower in the U.S. in 7/10 years and each year decimates Sweden's GDP):

Sounds like a load of horse crap endorsed by the UN. In any case the U.S. is only 4 thousandths of a point below Sweden, but I'm sure that that is significant enough to start saying that Sweden has a better standard of living than America! Also, in case you didn't notice, the UK, Germany and Italy were all below the U.S. in this ranking...aren't these social democracies? Well why aren't they head and shoulders above the US in standard of living?

Germany's situation is similar:

The freeze is designed to help the government deal with a substantial shortfall in state pension funds. The shortfall has been caused by an ever-ageing population and fewer contributions to the fund due to high unemployment...

And what's with the U.S.? There doesn't seem to be a shortage of people procreating here, but is there still an imbalance between retired people and workers?

Yeah there will be an imbalance between retired baby boomers and workers. This is why many are worried about what will happen with Social Security and Medicare. This is why I don't see America increasing the role of gov't in the areas of healthcare and pensions. We simply won't have the money.

Reading this thread, I am always amazed at the welfare apologists that want to pay people out of their own taxes to sit on their butt and not work, while they themselves are working.

Never makes any sense.

I have one distant relative in the netherlands that lost his job and the guvment paid him 90% of his salary for 2 years. Under the rules he could have a part time job so he got one teaching and ended up making more with the welfare and part time job than the original job. Now I can understand someone who loses their job and they need 1-3 months of compensation to help them out, but 90% of your old pay for 2 years? All this is, is a house of cards that is collapsing. There is no way any country can pay for 30-40 years of pensions and welfare when a person has only worked 20-30 years or less. The numbers dont add up and never will.

Tell us again why you are still in America since you hate it and want to be in some Socialist nation?

The fact is, everyone wants to be here in America because of the opportunities born due to capitalism. No amount of sniveling, whining or crying about it will change that. Maybe all the far left nutcases should leave America for Europe and leave the country to those of us who appreciate it, US MODERATES!!!!!

Perfect example of why education in the United States needs to improve. If wanting an education and health system on par with the rest of the first world makes me someone who hates America, then by God, I will hate it until the day I die!
