I have to go with President Obama here. He came from nowhere, beat the Clinton machine and then the Republican smear campaign and won big. Runner up would be Sarah Palin- noboby knew her name a year ago. Who do you think it is?

Biggest winner is AC/DC. Well into their 50's/early 60's, they produced a 15 track album that rivals Back in Black in quality, Back in Black being one of the top 20 albums in history. Look for them to win best rock album of the year awards.
But then again, they are not political. Biggest winners politically? Republicans who refused to vote for McCain. Now that the election is over, and even though I didn't like Obama or want him to win, I realize that I would have gotten ZERO satisfaction by McCain's RINO old butt winning, and actually trust Obama as much as I possibly could have McCain, which I guess isn't very much.  |

Although the award was obtained under false pretense since the media and the rest of the world made Obama out to be a democrat.

C'mon, everyone knew Obama was going to be president someday: he's the only black guy in the senate! Doing it in 2008 against such a weak opponent as McCain (who was labeled "too old" in 2000!) is no great accomplishment, and he only had to raise a billion dollars to do it. If Obama was white(r), he'd still be in Chicago trying to pass laws against walking turtles without a leash, or something like that.
I'd much rater nominate the medical researches who performed the first human windpipe transplant, or the geneticists who carried out successful experiments with cow-human cross embryos (http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,23476268-38200,00.html?from=public_rss - broken link), or the manufacturing break-throughs with cheaper solid-state drives. Even Michael Phelps would have been a better choice! Those are the people who move the world! Thugs like Obama only get in the way!
