Not being able to eat tomatoes was my ace in the hole....to bargin for enterance. Now you all know
Do people from New England have webbed feet? Coming from the desert, I figure I'll gain about 15 lbs. as my skin absorbs all the humidity.....but hey maybe I won't have to pay for a face lift

Yes we have webbed feet. We also have hairy toes but don't tell anybody. Also have waterproof feathers to help us stay afloat and keep us warm.
Hey ALML. You mentioned you're from the dessert. My parents winter in Arizona and Nevada every year. My mother is always refering to her "alligator hide" after she's been there for a couple of months. Right now they're in Tennesse so she's probably sucking up the humidity too.
Boy, it is a small world isn't it. We get many snowbirds in this area. If I were smart I would have given up my horse playground and put in an RV park! LOL Yes, the weather does do a number on you. One young guy asked me once if I used sunscreen. I got a kick out of that because it didn't even come out until I was in my 30' or 40's. Ya know my Mama use to always tell me to be careful, wear a hat, etc but back then you think your immortal. AND like many things your mother told you it turns out she was right!!!

Yeah it is a small world. Actually though my parents don't stay in RV parks they winter in a fifth wheel right out in the Arizona dessert. They only come up to Nevada when we can save up enough money to fly out to visit them and they figure there's more to do in Nevada not that we care. I don't know where in the dessert you're from but we usually go to the Lake Mead area. We have also been to Yuma. I love the dessert in February but I don't think I'd want to be there in the summer. It's too bad snowbirds have such a bad reputation. Being a snowbird is great. My parents have friends they go visit all over the United States. If I weren't planning on moving to Tennesse I'd become one myself.
I want to respond but I don't want to hyjack the original subject either.
We are about 1 1/2 hours outside of Las Vegas going toward Death Valley. I lived in Boulder City for a few years and spent a lot of time on Lake Mead. However, most of our time was in LV proper but moved out here about 12 years ago.
From what I see the snowbirds are very much appreciated around here. They are very important to this community's economy and LV likes anyone with a camera around their neck!!!
Aug. & Sept. can be brutal but I just get up at 4:30am to get as much done as possible before it gets so hot. We are a higher elevation than LV so we cool off much more at night.
If I win the lottery.... I will have my horses and travel. I love history and would really like to visit the entire South and East coast. It is so rich in it's history.
OK, nuff for now. Off to do barn chores. This has been fun
You're right about that LauraC. I can attest to that by what has happened in my own state! Unfortunately you have a right to be concerned. There are some of us though who are looking for cheap because it's the only way we can get out of here. I am so sad that a beautiful state like NH has been ruined by just the kind of people you are talking about. Us NH natives kind of felt that when the "Old Man of The Mountain" fell it was a sign. If enough of us come to Tennessee though you won't have anything to worry about. We're not about to let it happen again.
I love New Hampshire. It has good bass fishing. I like cold weather, too, so that was never an issue. It was on my short list of potential relocation states when I first started to look. It just didn't have some other things I wanted in retirement.
