Since when has sitting at home with one's family become a perverse tactic of terrorism...
When you are a leader of a terrorist organization, that's when.
You make the guy seem like just your average old neighbor Joe. How compassionate of you. But did you realize this was the same pig who said the women and children would be shielding his jihadists?
Quote:
Hamas operative Nizar Rayan announces the organization's intention to use “the bodies and souls” of [Palestinian] civilians to protect the houses of “jihad fighters” back in November 2006.
A picture is worth a thousand words so they say, a video is even better.
A reasonable post... And it is accurate.
Israel not exactly known for their compassion towards the Palestinians or any arab neighbor for that matter has long sense forfeited the moral high ground. Lebanon is an example of Israeli over kill. In this case Israel was 100% at fault.
With this latest conflict it is true Hamas was the aggressor and the ones who started the action. But at what point does it stop being self defence? Destroying an apartment building to kill 1 person regardless of collatoral damage?
What I find troubling are those who feel loss of Palestinian lives are not relevent. Easy to say when its not your child, your wife, your mother. Easy to say when you have never been in a fire fight.
Hamas is at fault in this but Israel once again is exceeding any reasonable response. But then again what did Hamas think would happen? Did they even care?
No one can or does hold Hamas or Islamic Jihad blameless. But Israel holds all the marbles in this fight, and rather than acting to reduce tensions and invite moves toward peace, they proceed in entirely the opposite direction. They are using US-made F-16's to shoot Palestinian fish in a barrel. For sport. And we've got people in here cheering them for it. Barbarism is barbarism, regardless of who commits it. Israel is committing it...

What would you suggest that Israel do? It seems to me, that Israel is in a catch 22.....if they respond to attacks they will kill civilians due to Hamas use of human shields. If Israel takes the high road and ignore the rocket attacks wouldn't that send a message of weakness to Hamas?
Israel has managed to make peace with Jordan and Egypt. It is my understanding (and please correct me if I am wrong) that Hamas declined a generous peace treaty with Israel. If peace and the welfare of Palestinians were Hamas' goal...wouldn't they aggresively go for peace instead of starting wars that they cannot possibly win?
It seems to me that Hamas would not exist if peace were to be achieved....and so, peace is not their goal.
From al Jazeera: Rayyan, 51, had refused to take security precautions despite Hamas figures being at risk of assassination.
Right...he had pretty much advertised that he would not be intimidated. The Israeli response? Kill him. And anybody else who happens to be around him at the time.

If I was warned to go, for the sake of my family, I would go. We do that when hurricanes are approaching, for God's sake.
I work in a "high-risk zone" quite near the White House. After 9/11, all of the trash cans, mailboxes, and newspaper boxes were removed from the streets. We had humvees with troops stationed at every intersection. I put a bull's eye on my window. There are various different mindsets, I guess...
Yes, sag, there are. And for each choice that we make comes a consequence. Not saying he should have fled or protected his children and wife. His choice. He made it. But it kinda take away from the sympathy vote, IMO.
Bummer, I bet that he isn't seein the virgins that were promised.
Where were your posts condemning homocide bus bombers?
No one condones such acts. But don't go crying crocodile tears when for every one of those senseless Israeli deaths that are played over and over and over again in the western media there are eight or nine or ten Palestinians whose equally brutal and senseless deaths have been brought about by Israel and nowhere reported in the western media. Heinous dog Palestinians. Noble self-defending Israelis. You've been sold a bill of goods...

One Israeli civilian has been killed. One. Israel talks targeting. They blow up whatever and whomever...
blowing kids and shoppers up to teach non muslims "a lesson"
compelling palestinian children to remain at missile launch sites as human shields so when israel fires back it will be on the 10 oclock news as israeli "aggression".
