Israel is vital to the United States interests in the Middle East. They have been, are are, and will remain, an allie - a friend, who we will help to defend in the time of crisis.
US is a great country for its citizens (and a superpower who strives to balance world power) but honestly in terms of world politics it is one dirty player. if US did not have an interest in middle east arab countries, it would not care for israel. take the example of pakistan & afghanistan. they helped afghanistan not because they cared for its citizens and their rights, but rather to fight USSR. similar logic for pakistan. if pakistan wasn't a rogue state as it is today and if china wasn't progressing exponentially every year to a level that it can threaten US dominance, US wouldnt be supporting india as they have been in the last 5 years.
It is not important in real life at all. What have they done for us in the "War on Terror"?
The whole "strategic ally in the Middle East" is a crock. They just are a pain in the backside that we all have to deal with and suck up to... thanks to all of our congressional whores (er, leaders) in Washington sucking on the Jewish Lobby's teat. They complicate and aggravate the War on Terror instead of being any help.
I think there is some big guilt trip felt by some that we did not jump in sooner to end the Holocaust, so now we are in debt to them forever apparently. And the Bible thumpers think their support will get them a free pass in the afterlife.
Nobody can ever begin to try to justify all the money we waste on them year after year.
Or why any of us should give a patooti at all about the Gaza strip.
The Germans were not the only Jew haters in Europe. The French have quite a history and even during the occupation by Germany of sending Jews to their deaths in concentration camps. Even how hate crimes against Jews is pretty common in France to the point that Israel named it a unsafe country for Jews to live in just a year or so ago.Jews actually have never felt safe in any country since the biblcal times.

And you can't get anywhere in American politics without the greenlight from AIPAC. Don't believe this "Israel is a fellow democracy" bull of a reason for its importance, because the American government doesn't care what is a fellow democracy and also because Israel isn't one to begin with.

Nah. AIPAC is no more powerful than the Saudi lobby. Why else would we let them bankrupt us with their control of petroleum and countenance their support of Wahabi'ism?
Face facts: Israel serves as a proxy military for the US in the Middle East. This will be underlined when the Israeli air force takes out Iran's nuclear sites, if that becones necessary, so that the US doesn't have to.
Israel also helps to keep the Arab world divided, squabbling and destabilized -- not that it takes much to do so...
Really .. that whole region, IMO is full of nutjobs.. plain and simple.. unreasonable and there is no reasoning with them AT ALL..it's like trying to negotiate with a 2 year old!! IMPOSSIBLE!!
BTW.. atleast 2 years olds grow up.. but I never see this region being anything but what it is.. and it's sad.. I would say that whole region..every nation in it including Isreal should be stopped from having any nuclear weapons capability at all..
They want to fight 1000's of year old religious wars... let then do it with the weapons they used 1000's of years ago.. get their thing over with once and for all and the rest of the world could go on with their lives..
I just wish they would nuke each other to smithereens, maybe then the rest of the world can FINALLY live in peace. These people have been fighting for over 1000 years, what makes any government, including ours, think they can FIX things. Sadly, once they do destroy each other, they are gonna take everyone else with them.
