Very interesting read, thanks for posting. I particularly enjoyed the following two segments
Quote:
They say that Israel cannot be expected to negotiate while under rocket fire, but they demand that the Palestinians do so under siege in Gaza and violent military occupation in the West Bank.
I have attempted to point out that the onus appears to only be one sided, which almost always followed by being labeled as anti-Israel or that other word...

the former head of Mossad. He says that while Hamas militants – like much of the Israeli right-wing – dream of driving their opponents away, "they have recognised this ideological goal is not attainable and will not be in the foreseeable future." Instead, "they are ready and willing to see the establishment of a Palestinian state in the temporary borders of 1967."
The rejectionists on both sides – from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran to Bibi Netanyahu of Israel – would then be marginalised.
God forbid peace broke out and destroyed political careers of Ahmadinejad and Netanyahu

And why was there a blockade in the first place?
Because Hamas was hording weapons and preparing to attack Israel with the very rocket fire that broke the ceasefire. I remind you that it was not only Israel that closed its border to Gaza....Egypt did as well because Hamas was smuggling weapons and bomb components in from Egypt. Some Hamas terrorists killed Egyptian border gaurds.
This doesn't look good for Israel at all. They have a poor record of winning hearts and minds in these kinds of operations. In the Lebanon War of the early '80s the Shiite Muslims in Lebanon actually supported Israel's invasion at first, but Israel alienated them by driving a tank right through one of their religious ceremonies.
We will now see just how much support the Palestinians really have from the various Muslim nations, namely Iran. Depending on the level and duration of the forth coming carnage, I'm guessing gas will probably hit 3 bucks a gallon pretty easy, with four+ possible. Then again, Israel shouldn't be concerned, Uncle America will cut them a check to make up for any losses or inconvenience.
Well, since not too long ago it was well over $4 a gallon, we have a lot of leeway it seems between $1.50 and $4.00 for a gallon of gas.
Besides, the democrats in congress aren't going to let the people get away with conserving gas (a major factor in bringing the price down) - they are going to raise the gas tax or think up some other scheme to get make up for the loss in revenue.

For anyone curious about events from within Gaza as seen through the eyes of reporters, here's a link.
Considering that Israel has still banned foreign journalists from reporting what's happening, very little is getting out that isn't IDF-approved reports.
Wafa is recognized by reuters and the bbc and many international newspapers as a legitimate source from within.
Thanks for the links--we'll need them, since the only democracy in the Middle East has instigated a Soviet style news blackout

Is anyone really surprised? Hamas gave Israel a valid excuse (this time).
Israel will take it for all its worth. In the end they will have created more hate against them and yet another generation of terrorists.
Lesson learned in Somalia. The warlords were jerks but they were Somali jerks. Hamas might be jerks but they are palestinian jerks. So the palestinians will always support them before Israel. I wonder just how much of us aid is being used to fight this latest conflict?
ya, ya, yam lets all go sing cumbya with them, that will fix it. So what if they hate Isreal and all wish to grow up to suicide bombers. With your hands and feet tied, there is not much you can do. And Isreal is in the process of finally tying their hands and feet up so they can't do squat. I personally think the entire free loving world needs to paint all these barberic idiots into a small corner of earth and build a fence around them and watch what happens. WE ARE SICK OF IT! Again, what part of 38 of the 39 major world conflicts involve MUSLIMS do you fail to understand? THEYARE THE PROBLEM, PERIOD!
Will the U.S.taxpayers go into greater debt, to finance this Gaza fiasco?
I don't see why we would.
Anybody watching this on Fox?
