Monogamy is a socialist idea, a sexual welfare of sorts. It is contrary to the economic laws of nature, and it never worked in practice, creating much unnecessary human misery, like all socialist plots tend to do! So, I say: privatize marriage, and keep the government out of it!

If/when there's a recognized need for formality in sexual, romantic, and familial relations, this formality should come in the form of explicit mutually-agreed-upon contracts outlining the rights and responsibilities of the people involved, not a one-size-fits-all socialist dictates from some demagogue politician!

We, as a society, have always rewarded and regulated this unique relationship because we all owe our existence to this institution. Furthermore, the obvious unique biological relationship between a man and a woman is clearly one designed by God and prescribed by nature and should be respected for that as well. I personally have to this point in my life remained single. I am not opposed to marriage, I just feel that the institution that I would be entering deserves respect and that I should serve it rather than have it serve me. When the circumstances in my life place me in a position to honor the institution in such a way, I will do so. But it isn't about me and shouldn't be entered into by those seeking personal benefit.

Over the past half century, Western Society has lost it's value system. First it was Europe and Canada and now it is becoming, more and more, the US. The Sixties were a pivotal point for rebellion and rejection of the traditional values that made us great, and not just a great military power or financial power, but a great moral power. The moral distractions of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll replaced our collective conscience and sense of duty to God and country. It also degraded our commitment to the institution of marriage and fidelity. After all, it's about me and what I want, Right? Divorce combined with children being born outside of marriage to break down the normalcy of the nuclear family and the expectations of lasting commitment to something greater than our selves. Most married persons cheat on their spouses at least once and divorce is so common now as to not even raise an eyebrow.

The individual's approach to the institution of marriage has to be one of reverence and commitment to something greater than his or her self for it to be anything but a sad, sick joke in the years to come. The smoke and mirrors arguments for gay marriage involves the complaint that civil unions do not provide the same benefits as marriage. But do the gay political organizations seeking to force gay marriage on the rest of us push for civil unions with benefits equal to those of married couples? No, because that isn't what they are really after. They want to hijack the institution of marriage for their own purposes. Civil unions will never do for them what marriage will, and that is make gay sex equal to strait sex. Everything else can be changed with little resistance from anyone by expanding the definition of civil unions. But gays are disingenuous about what they are really after. They want their sex lives, their values and their definition of normal forced on the rest of us and our children. Redefining marriage is the means by which they seek to do this. I personally do not want the definition of marriage hijacked by people for their own self-serving political gains. Change civil unions to suit your taste but respect marriage as a unique institution based on the intended design of God and nature.
So ultimately you're saying you're against equal rights for women as well as against equal rights for gays.

Bonobo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I mean, they are a creation right? They aren't human right? God created them right? They have gay sex right??

GASP!

God created an animal that has gay sex!!! Unbelievable right?? You mean animals other than humans (don't forget, we are part of the animal kingdom) engage in those activities that go against God's very will?

Homosexual behavior in animals - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So, I'm guessing these animals are ruled out or don't count because they go against the nature itself and God's words right?? Right??

And we haven't even to begin to delve into the inconsistencies presented in the very word of God itself.

Internal consistency of the Bible - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

True, enough though that those inconsistencies stem from various mistranslations in the bible such as mary being a virgin to condemming homosexuals and homosexuality. Can you believe that?? Let me remind you that the words 'homsexual' and 'heterosexual' weren't even words until the mid 19th century. Hey, when was the bible written? I tend to forget...

TRANSLATION ERRORS AND FORGERIES IN THE BIBLE

Church Tradition Only Condemn Homosexuality Not The Bible

Homosexuality in the Bible: A case of mistranslation « THE LIBERATED SHEPHERD

But then again, I could be wrong; but the evidence is overwhelming. I just have one question to ask. If it was proven that homosexuality was not condemned and considered an abomination, would you and Christians like yourself be so opposed to gay marriage and gays in general? Would you accept them for who they are, or would your prejudices and misconceptions still cause you to distance yourself from them and others like them?

Just wondering. A little food for thought.

Oh and another thing. Civil unions and gay marriage are like the Jim Crow laws back in the day that advocated 'seperate, but equal.' We all see how well that one turned out.

It's either we all go to civil unions, or we go to marriage for all. I'm not so much for gay marriage as I am for the underlying meaning of not allowing gay marriage. It's taking away the freedom to choose to marry someone of the same sex and that's what really agitates me. In all seriousness, how does gay marriage affect you in your everyday life? How is what's happening in someone else's bedroom personally affect you? Are you so bothered by the thought of gay sex?

Bottom line, it's someone's choice on whether they want to marry someone of the same sex (that is a consenting adult). When you start taking away the right to choose, then you are infringing upon another person's right to pursue happiness. That my friend is against the constitution and what our founding fathers wanted.

No gay bononbos are alowed to marry.
