Gosh, I had forgotten about all that.
How did we stop all the freon from entering the atmosphere. Do fridges, radiators, etc. still use freon? Guess now they have to be properly disposed of.

Don't laugh, hope I am not having a blond moment, but wasn't there freon in hairspray and that type of thing also? Ok, maybe not freon but something that was not good for the atmosphere - I remember pump sprays being a big thing. What was it?

Practically everything that is pressurized has a global warming potential refrigerant in it. Hairsprays, dusters..etc. Read the bottle and look for the contents if it labels it if not find the MSDS sheet. They def. have the wool pulled over people eyes. While they have use worried about CO2 they allow us to use global warming potential ref's to clean out our key boards.

Freon is a trademark from DuPont. R-22/HCFC-22 is the most commonly used ref. in the US and it's currently being phased out.

There are literally hundreds of refrigerants from water to ammonia to these hybrids they call "green"

You may be having a blondie momemt, but more likely a blondie life. We replaced the refrigerants with new ones that don't cause the same degree of harm to the environment. Trot down to your local auto supply store and ask for a can of R-12. Also ask for some hair dye.

Guys, check out the post Powerful Solar Storm Could Shut Down U.S. for Months -- interested in your thoughts. Interesting since some readings on articles about true/not true of GW concern the sun and it's cycle.

The ozone stopped declining, just like that - a snap of the fingers?
Actually the "hole" stopped growing. It appeared to shrink a little (after the expected 10 year lag). It seems to have been stalled at about its current level since then. CFC's are used worldwide. It was projected it would take 75 years to eliminate them. Anybody who used a medical inhaler could give you a timeline of the transition. It'll be interesting to see where it's at when we reach 75 years+10-- if we aren't extinct.

When the Neocon "religion" seeks to advance pseudoscience that was considered quaint by the 1800's, you have to wonder if the Lord won't save the rest of us instead. Only a Neocon would not grant the Lord a capital letter when using His name.

This has been a concern since the discovery of sunspots and solar flares in the early 1900's. We didn't have the electronics to worry about but a strong enough flare that hits the earth directly could effectively incinerate at least half the planet. We have observed flares that powerful but in the time we've been watching them. Because they're related to sunspots we see less of them during the "quiet sun" portion of the solar cycle and more during the active portion. The Skylab astronauts had a procedure that called for them to seek shelter in the X-ray film safe during solar flares.
