It forever scars the family. Anything that damages families, I think, is a problem. A micro problem, yes, but a problem all the same that has ripple effects world-wide.

When I was a small kid we lived in Washington for a year and I recall hating the place- cloudy dreary drizzle almost every damn day! It was enough to even depress the family dog!

I think the reasons that make a person feel like committing suicide is a much bigger problem. Biggest and most common reason is depression. Depression not only affects the person suffering from it, but it affects others around them, like poor work performance (so others have to pick up the slack), neglect of family, poor decision making that can often times put others at risk of loosing lives...etc.

I don't know if suicide is a world problem as I think the fact that people are so sad, desparate, depressed and frightened and don't believe there is anyone available to help them or any way to obtain help for themselves is in itself, the problem.
