That's exactly what the compromise did. Maybe you should have read it. No one objects to spying or intelligence gathering. It was illegal spying and intelligence gathering conducted at the President's sole discretion that was at issue.

What a distortion of the facts. The compromise that Obama conditionally supported re-established the exclusivity of FISA and relevant criminal wiretap statutes. There are no more avenues around those. This is a 180-degree turn-around from the interpretation that the Bushies had pressed upon the law. And just as a heads up, look for a review and tightening up of the language in that compromise legislation at some point during the 111th Congress.

You can't even spell perjury, much less define it, or provide an example. No one would have gone to prison for testifying as Clinton did. There would not in fact have been a prosecutor anywhere who would have given any serious thought at all to so much as filing a case.

Well done Bushey...He deserves the credit if the programme is a resounding success..but then its about all that he can be proud of since other than this..he's a straight 'F' president...at least to the world in general, excluding Israel, not sure what you Americans think though.. He knows he's got no positive legacy to speak of..so this is his last throw of the dice LoL

The whole thing started with a trumped up partisan effort to "Get Clinton" on Whitewater and the death of Vince Foster. Couldn't find anything there, so they proceeded to ransack the place. Nope, nothing here. Can't find anything there either. It was like Bushie searching the Oval Office looking for WMD. On and on they went, burning up tens of millions of taxpayer dollars, looking for something...anything...they could use in an attempt to bring Clinton down. It's no wonder the law that authorized all this was done away with. Such an abuse of an essentially reasonable authority has rarely been seen.

Clearly. The Paula Jones suit was over alleged sexual harassment. For whatever else it was, the relationship between Clinton and Monica Lewinsky was between consenting adults. There is no relevance to harassment, and Judge Webber-Wright was on very questionable legal grounds in permitting the testimony. She was on much firmer grounds in eventually tossing out the Jones case as the frivolous political ploy that it had always been...

Did you guys ever hear how Lincoln's assassination was Clinton's fault and how it would have been thwarted had Bush been given more power by congress to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa?

I'll take my position directly from the article linked:

"I am heartbroken overall by the Bush administration," Ruxin said in a telephone interview. "But from my perch here in Rwanda, it is impossible to deny the results and achievements of PEPFAR. Many Rwandans were made Republicans because this was the first administration that has taken an interest and done something here."

Ruxin hopes Obama will learn lessons from PEPFAR's first five years — in particular to end the emphasis on abstinence and start funding groups who work with prostitutes and carry out abortions.
