(CNN) -- The debate over the practice of men marrying children in Saudi Arabia was back in the spotlight this week, with the kingdom's top cleric refusing to annul the marriage of an 8-year-old girl to a 47-year-old man.

"It is incorrect to say that it's not permitted to marry off girls who are 15 and younger," Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh, the kingdom's grand mufti, said in remarks quoted Wednesday in the regional Al-Hayat newspaper.

Well, this should be no surprise....Bush TOLD us when he was re-elected that he had a "Man Date"...didn't he?

47-year old men marrying 8-year old girls? That's a matter of culture. What's OK one place isn't OK somewhere else. I can easily see this....but I don't know exactly how the 'multiculturalists' would explain it...since to THEM, anything is OK anywhere, since all cultures are equally good, interchangeable, and equivalent.

Maybe one of them will explain his views to us in this matter.

I'm just speaking about how we play world cop, but some things are allowed for one reason or another.

Same goes with allowing Saudis to allow clerics who are radicalizing the next generation of impressionable children. Suddenly, the world cop on the beat turns his head so he can get a hold of that sweet sweet oil.

A 47 yr old man marrying an 8 year old girl is called pedophilia, you might want to look it up for yourself so its clear.

Here in the US, you're absolutely correct....it IS pedophlia, and I don't even HAVE to look it up...I KNOW it. But in Saudi Arabia, it's called "valid marriage" and is not subject to anullment...this, at least, according the the Grand Mufti. I'm not disagreeing with you, HE is.....and he should know about what's right and wrong in his neighborhood. I'm just an outsider.

Even BUSH recognizes this cultural reality. When's the last time you saw him kissing an oil man from Oklahoma? Mostly they just shake hands, punch shoulders, and tell naughty jokes...but they NEVER kiss.
