Yes but there never was an agreement between the two parties. So what's your point?
Well, the title of the thread was "hamas launches an attack on Israel, despite agreement", so pardon me for replying as if there had been an agreement.
Between you and me, what kind of "lives"? future terrorists ?
I wept for Diana, but sorry, I won't weep for them.
It's the Palestinian populace after all who put Hamas in power.
The Germans put Hitler in power, they were punished, and rightly so.
The Irakians put Saddam Hussein in power, they were punished , and rightly so.
But why should the Palestinians, and them only, escape retribution?

The Americans put Bush in power, the whole world was punished Only the Israelis seem to have a 'Get out of jail free' card
Oh yes...it always help to mention Hitler or Nazis whenever Israel's abuses are questioned.
If Hamas stopped fighting today, Israel would stop today.
If Israel stopped fighting today, Hamas would take that a sign of weakness and just redouble their efforts.
That's the problem.
But...when has Israel ever stop? from continually ignoring UN resolutions to stop building illegal settlements, encroaching upon palestinian land...the list goes on

Where is the Palestinian incentive to stop fighting when an blockade (act of war) is currently being maintained by the Israelis.........and that's on top of the occupation.
Fact is the Israelis are no more committed to peace than the Palestinians. This notion that life will improve for the Palestinians if Hamas just stops picking at Israel is ridiculous.

lol, screw the UN.
I'm talking about the actual fighting...even if Israel quit today, Hamas would keep things going.
The Arab world has no interest in peace with Israel and use the Palestinians as a tool to keep the rivalry going.
Israel made a unilateral decision to suspend their operations in Gaza. What's ridiculous is to imply there was an agreement.
Seems that you are incorrect:
Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups in Gaza announced an immediate, week-long ceasefire in the conflict with Israel on Sunday, about 12 hours after an Israeli unilateral ceasefire went into effect.
The Palestinian groups said that they would give Israeli troops a week to leave Gaza... The ceasefire announcement, coming after 22 days of war that killed more than 1,200 Palestinians and 13 Israelis, was confirmed by the Palestinian groups’ exiled leaders meeting in Damascus.

Not as long as Israel continues to occupy land that was meant for Palestinians.
Would you be fine if government (much less a foreign regime) started to occupied your land?
