I'd really love to hear from the conservatives on this one.
It's a talking point that I hear from his backers a lot: He never waivered on his decisions and convictions.
Well, Al Davis, does not waiver on his and look where the Raiders are.
Tim McVeigh was convinced he did the right thing and never changed his mind either.
Again, why is this trait (or was in his presidency) such a good thing for Bush?
I would hope that, at least from time to time, Obama will make a decision (before he signs it into law or an executive order) and after confering with someone who may have an more enlightened point of view, change his mind.
Just as long as he does not flip flop like a fish.
It's because the authoritarian (so-called conservative, but not really) brain is binary: on/off, 0/1, left/right, right/wrong. They don't work well with any sort of nuance. It might be possible to change your mind on a difficult moral or policy question; but if you have the mentality of an authoritarian right-winger, how can you mistake on for off, and still more, how can you admit to having done it later?
Because conservatives want a leader that they can blindly follow with out all the complicated stuff getting in the way! If you change your mind (direction) they have to open their eyes to follow! Then they might see were their leader actually took us! Then theymight have to come to grips with the harm their leader(Bush) did to this country!
There is a book in the Bible called Ecclesiastes which talks about "vanity" The futile emptiness of trying to be happy apart from God.
If George Bush was acting in God's will, his happiness will come from knowing that he did as God wanted and nothing can take that satisfaction away.
When one does things based upon ones wishes only or does what the crowd wants and it is not in God's will it is an act of vanity and will come to nothing.
Have you ever analyzed what you did today and why you did it?
Were you trying to gain favor from another person?
Were you doing it for personal gain?
Or was it the right thing to do?
Did you do it because the result would be good for someone else.
The only thing that really matters is living in God's Will. That is the only place where true happiness is found.

What happened to analizing whats happening and always trying to do the right thing, even if that means admitting a mistake?

Did you invade a country today because your dad's friends said it was a good idea?
