There are a great many more than Mary Kay. The teacher/student sex cases have included male teacher/female student, female teacher/male student, and female teacher/female student.

Unless they can prove the teacher directly used her/his authority to coerce the student, my reaction to that is, big bleeping deal. Sure, fire the teacher if you want to, but don't come charging in acting like it's the same as rape.

Well that is what is happening lol. They are using full blown sex offender laws to prosecute two consenting people. Statutory rape is the only way they can do that. All other forms of rape are with people who are not consenting.

killer, there are some even worse cases than that. Check out Ethical Treatment for All Youth and Wisconsin's War on Kids for examples, or read Judith Levine's Harmful to Minors.
Easy for you to say if it wasn't your son or daughter.
Yea this is how most people think. "If it doesn't happen to me, I don't care." It isn't until your 18 year old son/daughter is being placed on the sex offender list for having consensual sex with his/her 14,15,16,17 year old boyfriend/girlfriend.
And these laws are being used against people under the age of 18.
Should two boys, 12 and 13, have full blown sex offender laws being thrown at them for slapping a girl's butt?

Either they were raped or they were not raped. It's not that complicated. Calling a dog's tail a leg does not make it a leg, and calling sex rape does not make it rape, even if it's the law or some emotionally disturbed parent calling it that.
There's clearly a bigger gap among 14-year-olds and among 19-year-olds than there is between the averages of the two.
You can think that all you want, but a 14 year old is too young to have sex with a 19 year old (or anyone else, IMO), even if the 14 yr old is "mature" and the 19 yr old is "immature". Many 14 year olds are still in middle school, none of them can drive legally, they should not be having sex with an adult.
