For the past 80 years TX has been one of the most influential states at the national level. There have only been 10 years when someone from TX did not hold the Presidency, Vice-Presidency, Speaker of the House or one of the party leadership postions in one or the other houses of Congress. A pretty good run, but now it's ending, and possibly badly.

Some things to consider regarding the ongoing, and accelerating slide for the Rs:

1. TX is a "majority-minority" state. Whites dipped below 50% in 2005.
2. Latinos made of 20% of the electorate in '08 and climbing fast.
3. Younger anglos are not nearly as conservative as their parents and grandparents.
4. Democrats have been making gains at the state level and are within 2 seats of a majority in the state house.
5. Democrats sided with moderate Rs to replace Tom Craddick as Speaker. Craddick widely recognized as Rick Perry's (gov) bu** boy is the guy who oversaw the Tom Delay gerrymandering in '04.
6. TX may add as many as 3 seats after the '10 census, but with Democrats resurgent there's no guarantee that they'll be Rs.

Perry's (and Delay's, and Rove's) slash and burn style is losing favor among registered Rs and it's probable that Kay Hutchison will resign fromt the Senate to challenge him in the Republican primary. That could get bloody. While it's not likely that any D has enough stroke to win a Senate seat any time soon, it's pretty likely that TX will be a PRESIDENTIAL SWING state by 2016.

Once White people are displaced, some other race or ethnicity will take up the "nativist" mantle and the Red State (that's conservative, not commie!!) philosophy. It's inevitable.

Today, there is a collective non-white manifest destiny to hate and displace whites in any way they can, however once Whites are gone, the non-whites will be at each others' throats just like in any other part of the world. Since when did Asians like blacks, blacks like Latinos? They are only together today because their hate and jealousy of Whites trumps all.

Whoever replaces the white Red State types, won't be as altruistic as have the whites however, this is again seen worldwide in how brutal others are (Pinochet types, African warlords, etc.)

And if it ever tips Blue that will end the GOP as we know it. They'll never win control of Congress or the Executive with their me-first, rich-first, white-first ideology. Texas has just too many electoral votes for them to recover from.

If the entire USA tips blue, then we will have succeeded at becoming a New Brazil, and at that point, it'll hardly be worth living in such a dysfunctional state and dystopia. At that point, the me-first, I-have-my-grubby-hand-out anti-White racists will have won, and it will be a pyrrhic victory because all levels and standards of civilization will have fallen.

At that point, the squabbling non-white racists and their followers will really be at each others' throats (it'll probably be blacks vs. la raza racists). It'll be like modern South Africa or modern Brazil, places nobody really wants to move to. Maybe white flight will have to take to space to get some peace and freedom.

That's funny that you point to Brazil. That's the country most likely to represent the right wing Conservative future.

Low taxes. Low Government services. 90% Poor governed by 5% of ultra rich whites.

Survival of the fittest....GOP style.

If you want to see the left version of high taxes and high amounts of Social servies look to Europe.

They live longer, they have better health care, they are more educated, they have less crime. They have more paid vacation days, maternity leave, and virtually no poverty.....LOL

Brazil.....That's your future.

I can definitely see that in the East Coast states, but I'm sure most Texans, including minorities, have more sense than that. In reality, the future Latinos, Asians, and Blacks would more likely adopt the Conservative-mentality (the fiscal and moral aspect...not the social and racial view).

Very clever, but that's not the point and you know it. Stop dancing around it.

It has nothing to do with political theory or ideology.

European socialism won't work when it becomes multi-racial, there will be fractures, there already are. People resent having to support another race, just ask slaves. Brazil is a hellhole, not because it's "republican" (ridiculous), but because it's a non-white cesspool.

Compare democratic and free-market Nigeria to European socialist Sweden to pre-1965 free-market America. It's not "political system" that makes one the success and the other the failure. Come on. Nice try on the obfuscation though.

Are whites superior to non-whites?
