This nation is much more divided now...and it was also not meant to be a dictatorship from DC.
As compared to when? The 1960's? The 1860's? Or, the early 1800's when New England was considering succession?
Dictatorship is a tad melodramatic don't you think? What other country in the world is as free as the United States? On the whole, who enjoys greater freedom? Jeez, you don't live in North Korea.
^wait, are you talking about the 50s when blacks had fire hoses turned on them, and were forced to sit in the back of busses????? Yeah, the times were a lot better back then.
Can you provide specific examples of how your freedom has been hindered?
And, when you say DC what do you mean? Are you talking about the people that we voted for? If so, we've no one to blame but ourselves.
If I'm not mistaken, 60 years ago entire groups of people weren't even allowed to vote, hold many jobs, or even eat in many places. The past always looks better in hindsight.
Again, what other nation in the entire world is more free?
Freedom to live as one chooses....modern society has become one of ever more regulations rules and laws to make us safe...and failing.
Freedom to own what one wants....prior to 1968 a gun could be ordered through the mail...
Most people who live in urban areas seem to LIKE more rules and regulations and restrictions...especially since they rarely bear the cost.
You could move someplace like Wyoming...plenty of wide open spaces to be had for cheap and to run as you will. Life is short and a real attempt at secession would take a long time only to fail in the end.
