The poll question was "Is religion an important part of your daily life?"
Results for Alaska are much more comparable to Massachusetts than to Texas, for instance. The percentage of Alaskan interviewees responding 'yes' to the poll question was within 5% of that for at least 8 other states.

I am honestly taken aback over and over again each time I see a Palin thread. :P For me it's like she never existed. It's weird...she was SUCH news for a while...then she just disappeared.
I don't really have a comment on her religious views now that she won't be pushing them down my throat. :P
Palin's celebrity was the product of the decisions of a few people in back rooms. Maybe she'll be able to give her celebrity status "legs" on her own now.
Here's another question: what difference does it make how "religious" a given state is? The Constitution of the United States mandates a separation of church and state. Whatever religion anyone chooses to practice, or how many people in a particular state describe themselves as religious, has no bearing on the affairs of state.
What's interesting to me is the question of how "representative" was her election to the Alaska governor's office. The fact that she is very religious is not typical of those in her state.

On the contrary. There are a lot of religious people in Alaska, just like other States. All depends on where the poll was conducted. For example, if conducted in the tree and bunny hugger liberal neighborhoods of Anchorage and Juneau, that's the kind of result you get. But if you conduct the poll in the rural areas, the outcome is the opposite. Palin is religious like a lot of other people, but as far as I remember has never talked about religion in her daily political life, nor at her job as a governor.
Even more surprising are the posts in the comments block of that article, glad the loonies are showing their true colors. But then again, if I was rich and 'smart' I probably wouldn't need God either .
