State, county and muni. employees, the gravey train is over, one good thing about the econimic downturn, the unions will have much less money to fund their democratic minion politicians, all benefits should be halved, turn pensions
into 401k. The average 401 k loss was 40 percent last year, pensions are down the same, but the unions want the taxpayers to bails them out, not fair, revolt will come when minions try to raise taxes.
But...but...but... what will people with no talent and no people skills do? When I went to some of the public offices to talk to government employees, I have found them to be rude, lazy, and dumb (and I do mean all three put together)... that means nobody else will hire them and I am willing to be they already used the maximum 5 years of welfare as well... do we really want these people laying on the streets? Oh, wait a good number of them already are...
Well, while I see no point in trashing public employees, I agree the defined pensions will become a significant funding problem in the near future. With the guaranteed benefits, it will be interesting to see how they overcome the funding shortfalls.
I still remember my city worker neighbor complaining his family health insurance plan went up to ~$100 a month and prescriptions were no longer free and were now $5.
I mentioned I was paying $500 a month and prescriptions were $15. He didnt go any further.
