Miami, FL (AHN) - A town in California became the first in the country to make it illegal for residents to smoke in their apartments and condominiums.
The Belmont City Council voted 3-2 on the ordinance on Jan. 23.

So funny... but understandable... I have stayed in hotels and apartments where the smoke can be smelled not to far away... the ventilation was all connected together... its funny... I have even stayed at places where people smoke RIGHT OUTSIDE the entrance... uhhh... you can smell it when you leave or come back in..... personally, I would ban smoking... but hey, if people want to get cancer, kill their lungs, and have tons and tons of medical problems... that's their right... its also my right to not hear them whine about it or ask me to pay for it.... which they have by the way...

With all these government restrictions coming along, what next? Do we have to ask permission to go to the bathroom? After all, the waste might offend someone.
With the continuing restrictions on personal freedoms and actions, the nanny state just becomes more powerful.
I eagerly await when public health and the morals crusaders (make no mistake, a large portion of this has to do with morals like it always has) go after stuff that non-smokers enjoy. Not that I will support it, but it will be entertaining when they see what it is like.

Sad -- or, more like it, pathetic -- is that many of the type you speak of just do not see the connection!
I wonder if the no-smoking ordinance includes marijuana? People have a doctor's prescription to smoke weed so it is likely that the Belmont policy won't effect them.
I am not upset with the Belmont restriction on tobacco but I think it will get overturned by the court.
