After 50 years of Social Liberals pushing the "children are horrible and birth control/ abortion is wonderful" mentality Europe's native population is now declining so rapidly that they could literally go extinct within 200 years.

Despite massive immigration from Africa and the Middle East most of Europe faces massive population losses by 2050.

Italy's total population will decline by 20% from 57 million to 45 million
Ukraine's total population will decline by 23% from 49 million to 37 million
Germany's total population will decline by 15% from 82 million to 69 million
The rest of Europe (with one exception) will decline despite massive immigration.

Is this what you pro "family planning" people want? A 1st world that is going extinct?

Heck, that's still way too many people...lets continue with the birth control and for those who don't get the message..let's ramp up the rate of abortions.

I gotta laugh at the poor thought patterns of those who think birth control is to blame for people wising up and having fewer children - as if there are NO other possible reasons for declining birth rates. What a joke. A totally UNSUPPORTED "Leap of Logic" that does not support the OP conclusion that "Is this what you pro "family planning" people want?" I suggest a crash course in "critical thinking" skills for the OP.

Birth control is a shining SUCCESS in a world that is horribly over populated and barely able to sustain itself. Good birth control is a VERY moral choice for all of us, especially at this time in history.

The educated population of the western world realized several decades ago that huge families are not supportable given the economic realities of a global economy. Large Catholic and other families of past generations, in this country and Europe, are almost totally gone and not to be repeated. The harsh economic realities of the immediate years ahead portend an even lower birth rate. It's good that we have excellent family planning on our side.

Studies in recent years have shown that at least 85% of Catholics IGNORE the Vatican's strictures on birth control. That's the 85% who'll admit to ignoring the Vatican, even in anonymous polls. We personally know of no younger families with more that four children, most of our neighbors have no more than two, if any. The Pope's message is not relevant to today's Catholics, or anyone else.

I for one do not believe that birth control or abortion are what is causing people to stop making babies. It is the exorbitant cost of living that makes having a child a major financial risk. Typically in Europe both husband and wife have to work to stay afloat; having a child, and having one person out of work for any length of time, could be devastating. For the most part, areas with lower costs of living typically have larger families, whilst the more expensive places in the US and Europe have much smaller families, sometimes with no children at all. That is why birth control and abortion are options used so often by Europeans, most families simply cannot afford to have children.

I guess the old joke about how Democrats are going to abort themselves out of existence does hold true in this case! But in all seriousness, I am sure the birth rate will bounce back when European governments give more tax breaks and incentives for those with children or those who want children..

You're anti-family planning? 13, 14 kids per family sounds about right to you?

How "first world" do you think Europe would stay then?

Are you the Pope?

Exactly, he parrots the Pope's line and those of our own evango-fundie whack jobs. The great irony here is that his type were delighted that Reagan and both Bushies stopped the use of taxpayer dollars to help foreign nations with birth control and family planning. As a result of THAT ideological nonsense, there are even MORE teeming millions of starving third world masses inundating the western societies with illiterate throngs. Way to go fundies!
