This is another criminal act by a politician. They need to be held accountable and Obama needs to man-up and lower the ethical axe on Daschles head.

I agree. However, note that the Republicans dont seem to have a problem with him. http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2...0see&st=Search

An interesting article on the small world of Washington. In Daschle’s Tax Woes, a Peek Into Washington

My understanding is Daschle is in pocket of the health insurance lobby. This is what I heard on the news this morning and listed all moneys paid to him. If it is false, set me straight please!

Is this a rep vs dem issue, or is this an issue of us (citizens) vs them (politicians)? I see it as a very distinct issue of a paralel judicial system. If I were over 100 grand in arrears with the IRS, I do believe I would be jailed and/or facing the forfeiture of my home and all of my assets. Yet Daschle will get a plum government appointment.
As to the attitude of lets overlook criminality because the man is brilliant bs....how brilliant can the guy be when he claims he didn't understand the tax code and what part of his income was taxable? This is a person you would entrust with revamping our nations healthcare, who?me? ?
Again, not a question of rep vs dem ---- I am sure someone will come up with tons of examples of reps playing fast and loose with their taxes. Which really only validates my point even further -- why are we giving our elected officials who are the suppossed best of the best, such wide leeway when it comes to breaking laws? It is unfair, unjust and unAmerican.

Wow - talk about desperately blind partisan politics! The ONLY two reason you're so in love with Daschle is because he's a Democrat and Obama nominated him.

Evading taxes is about the least of the problems with Daschle. The guy is as dirty as there is.

Obama REALLY needs to find somebody with SOME credibility to fill that post!

When his accountant realized amended tax returns would need to be filed, he suggested addressing another matter that Daschle raised with him earlier in the year: whether the use of a car service provided by a close friend and business associate, Leo Hindery, should be reported as income".

Wow, saganista hasn't yet opined with his apologetic tone on tax evading, consistent with Geitner.

See, if your tax forms are as complicated as Geitner's or Daschle's, you don't have to pay the taxes. Don't y'all understand?

Well that it explains it. He earned his "get out of jail free" card.
