How many countries do you KNOW of which could qualify as the "only superpower"? If there were two or three, none of them would be the "only superpower"....

Because the Soviet Union collapsed in the early 90s.
Superpowers are generally the result of wars, and in the case of the US and USSR, they emerged from WWII with good standing, and with proven military strength. For the most part, a true 'super power' cannot emerge strictly through economics or politics.

America has been the hegemonic power of the world for most of the past century, but it became especially powerful after WWII devastated the European economy and the US picked up the slack. The Cold War led us to build up our military might beyond anything that had ever even been imagined before and our open immigration policies led us to take the best and brightest engineers and scientists out of Europe and Asia when our economy was still overly dominant in the world marketplace.
Now as the economies of China and India catch up to their immense populations, our dominance is starting to dissolve. As long as we continue to fall behind in science and techonology (Dubai is far more technologically advanced than any American city) to places that were barely even industrialized before WWII, we will see our dominance vanish in our lifetime. It wont be long before we have the same kind of global influence that Great Britain or Russia has, significant, but not globally controlling.

The US is the only superpower because no one can match both are miltary and economic might. The EU has a comparable economy, but no coherrent foreign policy or military and other then the EU no one is even close to matching US dominance in either catagory.

As long... what are you talking about? Dubai is a nothing but an empty oil boomtown with pretty buildings. Semiconductor technology determines who reigns supreme and as far as that goes we are king. China and ESPECIALLY India are so socially retarded its almost worthy of of pity. Everyone comes here to learn and everyone comes here to make big money. Our geographic location is also supreme... our neighbors, one thats very friendly and very timid and another that is on the verge of total collapse and always has been... we have immense amount of resources, plenty of land and a highly sustainable/governable population. Americans probably have the most access and exposure to knowledge over any country on this planet.

How do you establish this? Do you even know how all empires have fallen in the past??? I would really like to know what you think on that. Also, how did the US get to the position that it is in today?... Compare that to how empires of the past arrived at the same position. History generally repeats itself but usually only if the same path is retaken... not the case with the US. |
