I'd like to see a speech where Obama explains how he's going to come up with the trillion dollars for his first "stimulus" package.

Would he really be honest ever and explain to the American people that this money doesn't actually exist, because it seems that many of his followers believe that a trillion dollars is just sitting there in the White House for him to spend.

Would he explain that this money not only doesn't exist but will likely never exist and so that he has to "create" it out of thin air?

Why can't he at least give an honest speech?

I thought the speech was dead-on. Obama inherited Bush's awful mess. He's got to implement this plan or the economy will continue its death spin.

I think he spoke from the heart and is trying his best to get this thing pushed through. I think it will help the economy bigtime.

How is his plan going to stop this death spin?

You should take an introductory class on macroeconomics at your local university/college/community college. The answer's pretty simple, once you have any knowledge of economics. I'll just quote from Mr. Keynes:
Quote:
If the Treasury were to fill old bottles with banknotes, bury them at suitable depths in disused coalmines which are then filled up to the surface with town rubbish, and leave it to private enterprise on well-tried principles of laissez-faire to dig the notes up again (the right to do so being obtained, of course, by tendering for leases of the note-bearing territory), there need be no more unemployment and, with the help of the repercussions, the real income of the community, and its capital wealth also, would probably become a good deal greater than it actually is. It would, indeed, be more sensible to build houses and the like; but if there are political and practical difficulties in the way of this, the above would be better than nothing.

We musta lost World War II as well, because the "money" to create all the weapons and the ships and the planes and the guns which won the war for the Americans wasn't simply sitting in the White House, waiting to be spent. I'm pretty sure there was a budget deficit as well when we started our latest adventure in Iraq.

I thought that the speech was fantastic. It shows that Obama really isn't going to put up with partisian hacks.

Spending billions on STD prevention,a golf course, food stamps, hybrid cars for local and state governments, all that will save the world???

Going into more debt to get out of debt is obviously something you would embrace on a personal level right??

I'll answer both of your questions with the same response:

IT WON'T

Look at the broad range of large companies and businesses that are slashing their workforces. Everything from Financial services to Tech to Marketing/Sales to Retail to Entertainment/Dining and much more. This package will do nothing for the vast majority of these folks, whose skills are not well-suited for many of the projects proposed in the recovery package. Lowering the corporate tax rate could help companies scale down their layoffs and, in many other cases, make modest increases in hiring.

Oh wait, just another sore looser venting.
suggestion to keep us out of a depression? get the government out of the picture. give businesses over to the hands of the people. banks fail? good let them be bought by smarter bankers who know who to lend $$ to. auto industry failed? good let another auto company who knows not to hire union members do better than them.

stealing a trillion $ from the american people will not accomplish anything. in fact, there are 300,000,000 people in the USA that includes babies, children, old people, billionares and drunkerds.
a trillion $ should be enough to feed everyone for free for a day. and then what?

He's a politician. As such, he has no heart to speak from.
