I am in disbelief that in this day and age people are so narrow minded as to blacklist an athlete over something as stupid as pot smoking. How could this happen? Ok so it is illegal... that is another thread.... so is jay walking. Is this how simpleton we are? This is so sad for Phelps. How can this happen to this amazing person?! What do you think, will he overcome this hurdle or will his incredible gift be cast aside because of this innocent moment of fun that 99% of us have partaken in ourselves?

The only people complaining about it are his sponsors... Not exactly the best image they want advertising their stuff. I didn't even know white people even smoked weed...

I haven't heard anything about him being blacklisted. I think the media as usual took a story & subscribed to the theory of "overkill", which is why people are talking about it. In reality, the majority of us & other athletes, etc. really don't care a whole lot.

So he's been suspended by the Olympic committee? Big deal, it's happened before, wasn't Tonya Harding suspended but then came back & competed? It's weird that people still get so up in arms about pot.

Our govt keeps the big deal going about pot so they can keep making mucho dinero on busting people with it. Think of all the money that would be lost for them if it was legalized!
