I was woken up very early (before 8am) on Saturday by a Jehovas Witness. Normally, I politely tell them no thank you, I am a grown woman and am quite happy in my spirituality...but I was pi**ed off, I had only slept a couple of hours because I had been painting all night, it was way too early, and I ended up telling him basically that it is very rude to be ringing my bell so early, to go away and not to come back. Then I began to really think about it...how condescending for someone to believe it is okay to spontaneously show up like that with the intention of trying to convince me that my soul is somehow in danger and I need to be saved! Why is it even legal for them to go door-to-door soliciting their beliefs? Neighborhoods should at least be alerted if these people are going to be showing up to do their thing, and we should have the opportunity to deter them with some kind of sign before getting woken up or interrupted.
In a recent thread about door-to-door solicitation many people posted that they have "No Solicitation" signs on their property. I think that's all you can do - or dont answer the door.
