Associated Builders and Contractors :: ABC Denounces Executive Order That Discriminates Against 84 Percent of the Construction Workforce

Quote:
WASHINGTON, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today denounced an Executive Order signed by President Obama that repeals Executive Order 13202, that prohibited federal agencies and recipients of federal funding from requiring contractors to sign union-only project labor agreements (PLAs) as a condition of performing work on federal and federally funded construction projects.
I am not surprised.

Does anyone else think this is wrong?

Are union workers the only ones worthy of jobs?

Are union workers the only ones entitled to contract with the government?

I think this is right on. Every since the Republicans put this crap in good craftsmen have been fired to be replaced by illegals who work for 75% less. Used to be that a mason or carpenter was a skilled job that a man could do and make a decent living.

Why would this be wrong? Non-unionized construction firms are still perfectly free to continue to work in the private sector. What this means is that the federal government wants to be sure that all labor hired for federally-funded projects be paid a decent wage, and that all construction/build firms with unionized labor hire, I presume, American workers. Look carefully at the comment from Pickerel: "against minorities, women and qualified construction workers who have traditionally been excluded from union membership." Which "qualified construction workers" or "minorities" have "traditionally been excluded from union membership"? Answer: illegal workers.

Are you saying that all skilled craftsmen in the construction sector only work for unions?

I'm in construction and I'm Union, and yes you will pay higher wages for my higher quality work. It amazes me how some of the Gov. workers on here that make 80-100+k off uncle sam are always biaaatching about this and that. I've lived in the Washington suburbs all my life, and these clowns barely do anything for what they're paid. I on the other hand earn every copper penny paid to me. If you want to biaatch about something take a real good look at the gov. employees makeing 80+k doing nothing to earn 1/4 of it...

The same Demmies who favor illegal immigration include a provision to favor American workers by excluding American workers who have all left the Union so they could compete with the illegal immigrants, thereby making them ineligible to work, providing a shortage of labor that will be filled by illegal aliens.

And you effing Demmies wonder why I have made it my mssion to educate you?

No, but the best work union because the money and conditions are better.

Talent chases money in the blue-collar world as well as the white-collar one. But hey, I shouldn't have to tell YOU that, you're the guy who believes in conservative economic theory.

You get what you pay for---hey, that's another conservative economic notion.
