If trickle down doesn't work then Obama would be raising taxes on the rich now. If trickle down doesn't work the billions upon billions would all be sent to the low income earners and homeless. Instead the billions and billions are going to be sent to businesses where it will ______ down.... (fill in the blank)

If this bill fails and the economy turns further south - I think that it will be the death knell for the Republican party...
How is the bill going to fail? Democrats control the house, the senate and the white house. It will get through unfortunately. Democrats only want republican votes so they can share the blame when this fails. Republicans are staying out so they can put the blame solely on the democrats when this fails.

Bottom line is we can't spend our way out of this. This bill will be nothing but a band aid. The only way to fix this is to let it crash and start rebuilding. The longer we hold out, the harder the crash will be.

During Bush = Republicans patriotic
Obama came in = F... patriotism, it's time to "Stand for republican principals"

What happened to all the patriotism that Republicans talked about for 8 years?
Do republicans hate America?
Are republicans only patriotic when it comes to building schools and roads in Iraq?

Bush Republicans never really were patriotic - it was all an act for the voters...

They were patriotic towards their party - period.

There are a lot of economists who would say you are right...

Problem is - the crash could create another Great Depression this time - this is not your typical recession - this one could really end in a depressionary spiral.

We've learned from Hoover what NOT to do during a strong recession. We also learned what we SHOULD do - and that is for government to come in and turn on the spending spigots.

There should be more spending in this bill - unfortunately tax cuts became a major feature... but it's still much better than doing nothing.

Thumbs down Republicans want the economy to collapse

It's becoming clearer by the day that a collapse is exactly what the Republicans are aiming for. Perhaps they feel it's the only way they can be "proven right". What it will prove beyond all doubt is that their campaign slogan, Country First! was pure BS that they just tossed it out there because it sounded good at the time, while they stomp their feet and stonewall recovery efforts like a bunch of petulant children.

The GOP is headed for another electoral trainwreck next year. They've learned absolutely nothing from the past two beatings.

Their "answer" to the recession: tax cuts and trickle-down.

And that's exactly what brought us to this point in the first place.

They have clearly shown that they won't lift a finger to help fix this economic disaster that THEY CREATED - with a big boost from their Fearless Leader - DUBYA.

The Republicans clearly are going to be total obstructionists - and they clearly hope that the economy fails and that Americans suffer what could be another Great Depression - merely in order to gain some political advantage. They are so anti-American and unpatriotic that it almost makes me sick... They don't give a damn about America.

I hope people take notice and vote them out in droves in 2010.
NO, Republicans do not want to see the economy collapse. It already has, by the way. Yes, Republicans spent money like drunk sailors when Bush was in office. But, the Dems are no damn better and are making things worse. Of course all of the liberals can't see that Barney Frank and his coharts are the ones who made this mess with the housing p[roblems and all. All you want to do is to hate the other side and not really help the country at all.

BS but you really don't want the truth. All you want is to hate the other side and you could care less if the country goes down in flames.

Republicans 100% drove the nation into this recession. They don't have a thing to offer except more of the same flawed thinking that caused this recession in the first place. All they've offered in their hissy-fit response to the sitimulus plan have been tax cuts and trickle-down. Those of us not under the influence of Kool Aid can see straight through it. Who in their right mind would invite these guys into any kind of planning for economic recovery?

That's right: no one.

Your party is setting itself up for another electoral beating of historic proportions next year. One would think that these professional politicians would be able to read the tea leaves after absorbing two consecutive thumpings. Apparently, they're so blinded by idealogy that they've become immune to information.

Prepare to be 0-3.

If you think the Dems have anything to offer then you are on drugs. The politicans meant for this economic collapse to happen. That way they can instill all of the socilaist programs to make our country even more socialistic all the while you think it will help the economy. It shows that most people in this country are too dumb and have no idea how economy works and really do believe that the two parties are different.
