Whoa....the six states that ban open carry suprise me quite a bit, all of them but one is pretty gun friendly.

Of course the 4 that are considering changing the law, and FL is also pretty gun friendly....not so much as Texas, but a lot more so than other states.

The only state that doesn't suprise me being on the list is NY.

Yes that's a problem with all laws....What's your point? Are you advocating we not have laws since they are often broken??

A criminal will carry no matter what the law states....he is unconcerned about laws by his nature.

Laws forbidding people from carrying a firearm either openly or concealed only affects law abiding people.

Simple enough?

How about, why make more laws, when you already existing laws to deal with a problem, when more laws won't solve the first problem anyway.

I believe that all citizens regardless of type should be able to own and store guns at their place of residence. However, when carrying them through public spaces they should be subject to some regulation. The idea of requiring a certification process for open or concealed carry is a great idea so long as it does not become an excessive cost for the gun owner. If you can meet the same requirements as a law enforcement or security officer, you should have the right to carry in any public place. On private property it should be the discretion of the owner(s). On publicly accessible facilities like schools and airports a ban on firearms would remain in place.

What is the purpose of these restrictions in your opinion?

this is a wonderful idea.
of course you are not going to be allowed to carry it into a store, bank, or any other place where you may need it. so when you go out into the parking lot which is where it will happen, you are back to square 1 its in the car.

FL also has adopted new 'wild west', or 'stand your ground' self defence law, which allows you to open fire in self defence even if you are not (yet) actually under attack. It is enough to feel threatened.

Fla. Gun Law to Expand Leeway for Self-Defense

Also, in FL there is no 'carry under influence' law, which means you may carry while intoxicated. However, when you drink at a bar, you need to sit at the table, and not at the bar. It is illegal to sit at the bar, while carrying. It is also OK to carry in a bank, as long as the bank is private, and not federal.

"...feel threatened..."
That is questionable at best.

The key phrase is "reasonable and prudent fear of death or serious bodily harm".
And the defender better be right and able to prove it.
The more clear the situation is , the better. The defense lawyer meter starts running very soon. A few wanna-be Rambo's have gone bankrupt in the process of getting a not guilty verdict. A very few others have gone to prison and gone bankrupt over a bad defensive shooting.

I'm not going to bother with the "no CCWWI law ". Sounds like error-net drivel to me.

Edit to add:
www.wikipedia.com

Type in: Castle doctrine in the United States ( Case sensitive).
And.
Concealed carry in the United States ( Case sensitive).

Wiki isn't perfect but it does have some quality contol measures in place that help to guard against
drivel.
