Russia has a 13% flat tax.

Many East European countries have a flat tax and regard a graduated income tax system as communist.

Whereas the US has an income tax system that punishes the people who produce and create jobs.

Russia and East Europe since the late 90's got their first taste of capitalism/free market and they liked it. Now with a closet marxist running the US, it'll bring the US economy down as well as those Eastern block nations.

Russia's middle class has been growing by leaps and bounds - lots of millionaires and billionaires now in Moscow - it's 1950's America over there ... well, until last year since the US and UK economies are going to pot.

On the otherhand, Obama and the Democratic Congress wants to take us to 1960's Soviet Russia where there's bread lines, secret police and censorship.

Occassionaly even the russians tell the truth more then the united states government has. We might take a good lesson from our big government socialist and not go forward with what Obama and Bush have pushed thru our nation.
The most important part of this is responsiblity, the state and tax payer can not be responsible for those irresponsible. This lesson must be learned it will hard on some but it is needed to clean the balance and start having the government reduce its size.

My experience is that a lot of conservatives don't particularly like Mr. Putin. Trust me!
But I have noticed that more are starting to look at him with a different point of view. Me included. He's trying to make Russia into a super-power whereas the new US president is trying to destroy the US and turn it into a communist police state. Mr. Putin looks out for the Russian middle class whereas Obama is out to take what the American middle class has and spread it around to welfare types and rich CEO's.

How did the conservatives sound the warning? By electing an undercover socialist for the second term in 2004? By supporting Bush's nationalization and bail out campaign of 2008? You sounded warning by encouraging Bush to burn 8.2 trillion dollars in socialist maneuvers? Yes, I remember last October when people who called themselves die-hard conservatives parroted Bernake, Paulson and Bush about how the country needed the 850 Billion dollar gift to their buddies at Wall Street. It's not that long ago.

And now you wake up screaming and pretend to be a 'real conservative' when there is a Dem doing the exact same things???? That is partisanship at its best.

The road to recovery begins at admitting your faults.

The OP reminds me of something I heard on the BBC's News Quiz when the Wall Street Bailout was going through. The host (a comedianne) was saying she felt like she was in a parallel universe where the Americans were the socialists and the Russians were the oil rich capitalists

Putin is the defacto Czar of all of Russia and brighter by far than any of his predecessors. That does not mean we have to fall for his ploy. Please remember Vladimir Putin is a RUSSIAN and damned proud of it. He will do what he sees is good for Russia not what is good for the US.

BTW - IIRC he is a very good chess player. Seems most of the RWC's are ready to fall for his feint.

It reminds me of what the Finnish soldiers used to say about the soviets during the winter war: "Russians are Russians. You can take them and fry them in butter, but they are still Russians".

Don't trust them!

Russian Prime Minister Vladamir Putin has said the US should take a lesson from the pages of Russian history and not exercise “excessive intervention in economic activity and blind faith in the state’s omnipotence”.

Ahhh, what does he know.
