Do you feel safe in your home? If you do, is it because you are in a low crime area, have good neighbors, and you're far from a bad area? Or do you feel safe only because of some combination of security guards, alarms, dogs, guns, etc.?
If you don't feel safe is it because you have taken all sorts of precautions, but wonder if they'll be effective? Or are you in a bad place, and for some reason, chose neither to prepare nor to move?
Yes. I feel safe. We live in a low crime area. Good neighbors. We are 30 minute drive from a bad area. Have a dog; just a barker, not a guard dog. NH does not have onerous gun control laws so the thieves do not know who has a gun in their house and who does not....
I do now. No place is crime free but a small town in the toolies is a lot better than southern California, where I did NOT feel safe at all. There the neighbor went back east to visit one son and the other one filled the apartment with his druggie friends, who were standing near my door banging on his at 3am. No comparison what so ever.
Since I leave the doors unlocked, yes.
Didn't vote in your poll because it says "no crime'.
There is crime everywhere but low enough some places that it's a matter of taking a chance on the odds.
Yes, I feel safe but none of your "yes" choices fit, LOL. I wouldn't presume to say "there's no crime here" because I don't think that ANY neighborhood is 100 percent crime-free. But, I don't need burglar alarms or any security measures. Folks in my neighborhood are good, average, "salt-of-the-Earth" types. The kids can leave their bikes out in their yards without the fear of them being stolen, it's quiet and peaceful, and folks are neighborly.
I live in a neighborhood of manufactured homes, where everyone owns their land and home. We're in the countryside, right outside the city limits. Some people may turn their noses up at our neighborhood but we have no problems with theft, vandalism, trespassing, etc. while upscale neighborhoods in town have had youths shooting out car windows and committing other acts of vandalism and burglary. I feel very safe here.
I left government crime out of it because who in his right mind doesn't fear the government? Those who make the laws are not required to obey them. That hasn't always been so in this country but it is now.
Low crime AND I have guns, dogs, and security system, good neighbors, etc.
