How many points has it dropped since obama was elected? 3000 now?

I'm sure they are very happy about that. How else can they convince the public of their doom and gloom scenarios?

On January 20, 2009, the Dow was at 7,949

Today, February 19, 2009 the Dow is at 7,465.

Maybe you could explain how 7,949 - 7,465 = 3000 points?

Is that some sort of new "Republican" math?

Try going back to the election.

It seems to be the liberals who support higher taxes are the same ones who actively work to cheat them.

Reminds me of all the African-American Obama fans @ work I called out one day when they were bragging about their neighbors 'cheatin the man' by claiming other people's children on their tax returns.

Of course I needed to let them know that many of them are a net drain on the system and contribute nothing, take everything, and demand the most.

The "liberals who support higher taxes" are the same ones who believe in paying for government expenses when they happen.

We believe in "balanced budgets" ... that sort of thing.

Unlike Republicans, who constantly want to cut taxes, and then run up the National Debt by trillions at a time, since they now have to borrow from China to pay for our nation's expenses, such as "unnecessary wars" in Iraq.

Ever wonder how Bush managed to run up our National Debt from 5.6 trillion to more than 10 trillion?

Then, we also have to pay interest on the National Debt as well as the principle.

Those "tax cuts" really work wonders .... don't they?

I'm sure our grandchildren will be thanking us some day.

You're so desperate for Obama to fail you have actually convinced yourself he is after just a month because that's what you want.

Funny thing is that he defied every odd and criticism at every step of the way. While you may disagree with his tactics, there's nothing to indicate that he won't do it again.

It's time to grow up. Seriously. It's really time to grow up and stop seeing the world in black and white.
It's hard to swallow nonsense like this. Who in their right minds would want their retirement accounts wiped out just for the privilege of being right? Hell, I would LOVE for the economy to soar starting right now.

It's not that we want Obama to fail; it's that we know his socialist policies ALWAYS fail. Never in the history of the world have they worked.

On the contrary, we KNOW the formula for pulling out of bad economies. We've seen it done three times in the past 30 years.

1) You help those who create jobs for people (aka the achievers in the highest tax brackets) keep more of their OWN money os they can do what they do best -- create jobs.

2) America has the second highest corporate tax rate of any industrialized country at 35%. You CUT that rate and bring all that capital home that is now sitting in foreign banks to avoid U.S taxes. Bush called a moratorium on those taxes in 2003. It brought billions of dollars into the country.

3) The government CUTS spending. This is one way we got a great economy going in the mid-1990s. The new Republican Congress wouldn't let Clinton spend anything. The economy soared.

So why would we ignore what everyone knows works, and do things that don't work? The answer can only be one thing; the goal of this bunch isn't to improve the economy; it's to pay off political cronies. the mainstream media will never do its job and point out the obvious. To do so would mean admitting they were 100% negligent and unobjective during the campaign.

That's NOT the tune you and your ilk were singing after he won. See Posts # 32 and 34 for a reminder of your side's gleeful and ridiculous boasting.

However, after breaks, incentives, loopholes most large corporations pay no tax. And if they pay nothing already, why cut their taxes further?

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities disagrees.

I guess I'm more cynical than you are. I assume that if you give a business owner tax cuts, they are likely to think about one thing: using that to make more money. Sometimes that will lead to more jobs, many times no.
Besides, we've been down the tax cut road - it helped bring us here.

The situation today is very different - or I would likely agree.

That is not remotely the goal of the stimulus package.

Please explain to me ... what is Obama's plan to create millions of long-term jobs/careers that pay $40k -$50k jobs with benefits packages?
I doubt very much that any of us read the full stimulus bill, and I doubt any are qualified to estimate the number of jobs created based on that text.

However, the CBO has done a nice summary which is easier to read.
http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9...r_Stimulus.pdf
The bottom of that pdf has their estimates.
