“When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion – when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing – when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors – when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you – when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice – you may know that your society is doomed.” Ayn Rand - Atlas Shrugged

All the financial system needs is more government intervention. Read any elementary book on Economics and you will understand that everytime the government tries to intervene with the economic system, they only make things WORSE. On the other hand, Government is free to do whatever they want with our money, even refuse to return our refund as we have seen in California and Kansas. Outrageous!

Does this sound like America today?[/QUOT
Too true. Ayn Rand was really something. I'm going have to dust off my Atlas Shrugged and read it again. the atlas shrugged movie was supposed to come out thi spring, i thought. they probably backed off cause they thought that it would start a revolt given the current crisis that we're in.

Since it's deregulation that got us into the current mess....
It's part of a cycle - time to re-regulate again. Soon enough it'll be time to loosen the chains that bind Honest Capitalism and we'll be right back here again in 25 years. The trick is to jump off the bus before it goes over the cliff, at year 23.5 or so.
Maybe Baracko should be forced to read Atlas Shrugged. But even if he were able to comprehend and adopt the common sense principals of the objectivist philosophy, it would probably take too long to prevent disaster.
What would John Galt do if he were president?
Delusianne - Do you think Roger Smith could have been forced into being a good man?
I think Henry Ford was a good man.
I also wish Michael Moore would read Atlas Schruged.
