I have to admit, i'm just now catching up with this story and would like some opinions on the matter.

Is this, in your opinion, a case of political persecution, or a justified crime punishable by law?

I bet 80% of the cons, don't even know who Don Segelman is.
Yes, it has Rove's fingerprints all over it and sounds like something that would happen in the old USSR.

I've tried to follow it from the beginning, but of course the SCLM never gives it any coverage. If Rove and Gonzo and some others from the DOJ ever get in front of a jury, or Congress, and DON'T LIE THEIR BUTTS OFF, we may get some truth on this case.
