No kidding. Who does he think he is fooling with his flowing rhetoric?

FACT CHECK: Obama's words on home aid ring hollow (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090225/ap_on_go_pr_wh/fact_check_obama_6 - broken link)

Quote:
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama knows Americans are unhappy that their taxes will be used to rescue people who bought mansions beyond their means.

But his assurance Tuesday night that only the deserving will get help rang hollow.

Even officials in his administration, many supporters of the plan in Congress and the Federal Reserve chairman expect some of that money will go to people who used lousy judgment.
Quote:
THE FACTS: If the administration has come up with a way to ensure money only goes to those who got in honest trouble, it hasn't said so.
As with the bank bailout, the reality of who gets what will come after the fact.

Unfortunately, they picked the wrong person to respond: Bobby Jindal...what was all that stuff about his "Coming to America" story -- v. boring and irrelevant. They should've responded to the speech blow by blow just like the talk shows are doing right now.

Obama is beginning to make no sense at all. One minute he's saying he's going to spend even hundreds of billions more dollars than he's already spending, then he promises he's cutting the deficit.

It's obvious that he's just saying anything he thinks his worshippers might want to hear.

Who do you think you're fooling?

It's a plan that won't help speculators or that neighbor down the street who bought a house he could never hope to afford...

Now tell us how YOU plan to treat folks who are in or headed for default as the result of recent medical crises or job losses. Do you know what share of the current total those are? Are they among the group that you see as having bought a house [they] could never hope to afford??? Are you planning on penalizing people for not having correctly predicted in 2003 or 2004 what 2008 and 2009 would look like? How much have YOU lost on your 401-k, by the way...

As with the bank bailout, the reality of who gets what will come after the fact.

No matter how hard you people try, Obama's ratings went up to 80% last night - with both Democrats and Republicans. You must spend a heck of a lot of time googling to find the negative. What a waste when the majority stands behind and supports this extraordinary president.

Leave it to Fox (one last gasp news) as usual.

I will just take on one of the so called "Facts"

OBAMA statement: "We have known for decades that our survival depends on finding new sources of energy. Yet we import more oil today than ever before."
Article statement: Oil imports peaked in 2005 at just over 5 billion barrels, and have been declining slightly since. The figure in 2007 was 4.9 billion barrels, or about 58 percent of total consumption. The nation is on pace this year to import 4.7 billion barrels, and government projections are for imports to hold steady or decrease a bit over the next two decades.

Real Facts:
2005 Price started to go up.
2007 price over 3 bucks a gallon.
People started to use less.
Projection changed.

but the article (since it is 2009) failed to include 2008 information:
2008 Price went down.
Usage went up.
Projection changed.

Projections will change. (they are just estimates based on current/past statistics).

Gas price history:
http://zfacts.com/p/35.html

Latest projection - World oil consumption is expected to rebound in 2010

Where is the detailed plan of how they will prevent bailout money from going to flippers, speculators, HO who irresponsibly purchased a house they could not afford, put no money down and then just walked away?

He can make the CLAIM all he wants - intentions are always what counts most to democrats, nevermind that the plan actually fails. Their intentions were pure, right?

What whack poll are you accessing? The one that polled the oscars crowd? Seriously, there are about 1000 polls out there with approval ratings anywhere from 40% to 80% and anyone can interpret them differently to try and suit their own arguement. Sorry, but we are not buying it

So much hatred spewed by the left again. They can't stand differing opinions

Where do you see hatred in my post? One of the reasons we support Obama because he does NOT spew hatred.

I can spend and save at the same time. Can you not? It's called prioritizing. Although we have a big deficit, the government takes in big money. It can be done. Not saying it will be done for sure, but what Obama implied can be done ... in theory.
